The supercharger you're talking about that replaces the intake manifold is a positive displacement blower. The issue is that the cowl of the windsheild doesn't leave much room so you have to lower the engine, and trim the cowl among other things. No one sells an F-body specific kit either, so it means that you need to peice things together from other setups. The other down side is because of the limited space, you can't put a larger blower on there, and you don't have much room for an intercooler either.

Most guys with f-bodies who go the supercharger route usually go with a centrifugal blower, which looks similar to the cold side of a turbo charger. The popular one is a Procharger, which if you do some searching in this forum, many people have had really good luck with them, and there is quite a bit of help and support here for them.

^ what he said. The intake mounted ones are referred to as a roots style blower. Cobras have these, among many others. Procharger is the most popular. Im sure Bob from brutespeed and many others will chime in.

Check out the above ProCharger system, no need to remove your air conditioning system. Bob

I wouldn't recommend buying a supercharger right after getting the car. Take some time. Read lots of threads on power adders. There are several companies that make supercharger and turbocharger kits that retain AC. There is a certain amount of mechanical ability required to install and maintain these systems. You can download their installation manuals and go through the steps and evaluate if you want to do the job or have it professionally installed.

The only problem that I have with the vortech or procharger is that I heard it cost a lot to get one

Also can I just put the edelbrock super charger that they put on the corrvettes like I want to build this car to be super fast but look look really good still

U can pick up used D1SC/P1SC procharger kits on here between 2500-4000 for a complete kit and sometimes they even have the injectors you need with them. you def want a new fuel pump or even a twin pump setup and go have it tuned by a reputable shop. A tune alone is gonna run you $600+ unless you know how to tune yourself. Your gonna wanna set of gauges which is gonna run you at least $350. So
It can get expensive fast. But you'll always have the supercharger and more power is only a pulley away

I Vote Procharger D1SC Easy to install, easy to work on, Very dependable system. I purchased my old kit for $3300 used. And that was complete minus the BAP and tune.

Not needed unless you go 2 BAR and with an SD tune. Someone that is looking to put one on a stock motor doesn't need to go SD

you mean map

baro is the pressure around you outside the motor. map= manifold absolute pressure, bap= barometric atmospheric/absolute pressure

BAP = Boost A Pump that is what procharger includes in there kit from new. An inline fuel pump to assist the stock pump

I didn't realize where you were going with the baro question. Most all GM cars use the MAP to get its BARO reading before you start the engine.

Mike Norris is my tuner, which he specializes in turbo/supercharger and nitrous engines. Im taking my car back to him to get it re-tuned after i put the D1SC on, and he still told me to pick up a 2-bar map sensor and he told me to keep the MAF. But im not doing an SD tune.

First off, what is your experience with working on cars, or do you have a good shop/mechanic and a lot of money to throw at the car? Nothing is going to hurt you more than not having the ability to work on your own car, and not having the money to pay the right people the right way to fix your car properly.

To get an Edelbrock E force or Magna charger to work on your car is going to take quite a bit of work and quite a bit of money. Figure an easy $10,000 to pay someone else to do it for you.
Then like everyone else said, now you need to thoink about fuel supply, tuning, drivetrain upgrades and it's going to get expensive quick.

What is the appeal to the manifold mounted blowers? Is it just the apperance?
