These same turbos were $500-$600 a couple of years ago before they caught on big and started jacking up the prices.

Ol so theres no reason I should be staying away from them. That pretty much wraps it up then, just need to get rid of these wiseco pistons and get some boost pistons.

I would not think so. They are factory Borg Warner units to the best of my knowledge. I have used BW turbos on a variety of applications and never been disappointed with the results. I am just upset that they are starting to skyrocket in price lately. The new 500 series are just EXPENSIVE. It's pretty bad when you can get the "budget" Garret GT88 (1200+ hp) for $1249 and BW has really nothing that will compare as far as compressor size that is even close in price. The S480 from my searches is a solid 800-900 hp turbo. I would not believe the 1000+ claims unless using race gas and pushing the turbo to the absolute limits (not safe).

Go for the 83mm comp side 96mm turbine side T4 or T6 bw unit from forced inductions. BW makes an excellent product and the ones that have added race covers and billet wheels are becoming mainstream performers like garret and precision units.

Also get try to get the biggest turbine wheel with the tightest housing possible. It will greatly enhance spool, midrange power, and still make the same amount of peak power as a bigger a/r housing and slightly or same sized turbine wheel as long as the comp side has the capacity to feed the turbine in said housing.
