on3 turbo

Im now alot more interested in these turbos/kits.
there will be manufacturing/assembly/machining/quality control or flaws with any production components.
A poor quality control, machining issue cost us a motor at work. From a turbo from the oem supplier. And these were oe replacement brand new unit. I work in the industrial/commercial diesel repair and maintenace. And every single day I see these issues.and diagnose and repair. So I understand not every single part will be correct regardless of manufactuting or country of origin.
Nothing new to me

I am more interested in these as well, but my understanding is the turbines are what come apart do to poor casting methods. But idk its all here say. As far as ebay wastegates my friend is still using the same 50mm he bought off ebay 5years ago for $50 and it still controls boost great.

yes they all use the same concept, but they use VERY different materials. buy a nice wastegate and save your engine.
now as far as chinese turbos, yes they work. they work fairly well actually. I made 505rwhp on a 76mm chinese turbo. it spooled quickly and made great power. but then I put a turbonetics T78 on it and made 612rwhp.
so yes, while the On3 turbo will work well, a good name brand will work better, its just really up to you. then you have the whole warranty issue. there really is no warranty on chinese stuff. The company wouldnt even warranty a $55 wastegate that cost me thousands of dollars. Oh well, that was the last time Ill use chinese parts on my car.

My only concern with ebay wastegates is how long the wastegate will hold up. On an external style gate, the diaphram is what concerns me more than anything. I know in the Tial units they use a nomex diaphram. No clue what might be used in these ebay units. I don't think they would hold closed on a failure like an internal gate actuator might.

The only thing I have seen I did not like about there complete kits ( mustang kit) is the mild steel headers, idk why they don't offer a 321 stainless, cause we all know mild steel rusts and with the heat temps the headers receive no coating is going to last. I seen a guy selling a used on3 kit on racingjunk.com and the headers looked awful with surface rust. Hope they make the ls1 kits out of stainless. Also do ur homework on the turbo oil feeds, the most common mistake is the oil feed from newbie's on turbo's. If its a journal bearing turbo it requires no oil restrictor if its a ball bearing turbo it does require one and you should ask the manufacture there specs. I have seen more turbo's blew up due to this than anything. I'm interested in the 76mm feed backs. I may upgrade over the winter.

anyone have an update on these?
the one i bought (76mm journal bearing swapped out with a 1.0 a/r twin scroll t4 housing) i am still fabricating the system and trying to figure out the best way to design with twin scroll.

I'd say it's not worth buying the ball bearing simply due to cost vs quality. I am still building my system as well. I have the twin scroll 1.0 a/r as well. I just used a open flange I'm not worried.

I checked these turbos out, only thing I don't like is this I quoted from their ad:
"Warranty Info:
1 year on the hotside from manufacture defects, 1 month on the standard 70mm turbo and 1 year on the Master Power turbo."
means to me that the turbo only gonna last a month.... would you buy a $30,000 car that has a 1yr/100kmile warranty vrs. same looking car with 1mth/1000mile warranty for same scale price difference of $20,000 ???
I'd have a hard time spending $20,000 on a car only guarranteed to last me a month!!!
