Default t70, 4.8l 87 IROC. couple questions

im in the process of collecting parts for my build. im building my 87 IROC with a turbo 4.8l. im planning on using a t70 turbo around 8-9lbs of boost. my questions are....

what size injectors should be good?
what size intercooler?
would i need a 3bar maf?
would a ls6 cam be good to use?

ive done a build like this before on a 87 rx7 with a t70 5.3l but it never ran well.\

thanx in advance

thats about 600hp. 60lbs or greater should work

skip intercooler at 8psi

you shouldnt need a 3 bar maf

ls6 cam from what ive read pretty much runs good on everything lol

sounds like a good build. Imo leave the stock cam. Big intercooler in the grille area. 60lbs. Injectors, biggest dp u can fit on ur turbo kit. Build a rising rate fpr return fuel system with a strong fuel pump. Like bosch 040

I was thinkin of running a full exhaust but also running a cutout and have it come out either the rear of the passenger side fender or just dump it.

Ok so I won't need a 3 bar map?

Do not skip the intercooler. 60's should be good on that and the stock 4.8 cam should go.

Go with a 2 or 2.5 bar MAP and a SPeed Density tune.

I'm just wondering on what size intercooler? I was thinking a 24x12x3. But dunno if that'll be too much intercooler. My rx7 was on a SD tune and ill mostly likely tune this on a SD tune too. Its not goin to be a daily driver or a race car, pretty much its just goin to be something fun that'll alsolook good.

Always love the WOW factor.

Love the iroc builds! Yes use an intercooler, that size will work well. Don't skimp on the fuel system, you WILL want more boost. Boost is addicting

Check out my build. I used the E-bay intercooler that size and notched the bumper. Perfect fit.

You need a boost referenced fuel pressure regulator. For every 1lb of boost increase, it increases the fuel pressure to account for it.

Size intercooler? The one you mentioned will work well. Boost referenced fuel pressure regulator has a nipple on it to attach to a vacuum source, it will rise 1:1 with boost. My intercooler core measures 24x6x3.5 , that's just the core, the end tanks make it bigger. Here's the one I have, I didn't have to cut the car at all, just move the lower hood latch mount.

So I was talkin to some of my buddies last night about my build and they said that 60lb injectors are way to big. They said I should be good with 42lb. My buddy got out some horsepower calculator and started talkin all sorts of math non-sense and I just kept ignoring him (I ignore him cause all he does is read forums and puts lights on his car)

With proper tuning there is no reason not to run the larger injectors.

Not to mention, 60's tend to cost about the same as 42's, and will leave some room to grow if you decide to make more power or go E85 in the future

Dont use standard hose clamps....they suck and blow off.
You need the T-bolt style like this...otherwise like you experienced...
