Valvespring choice

I posted this in the internal engine forums but wanted to get some more responses to those using boost.

I'm about to swap in a 5.3 into a Blazer xtreme. My question is can I use dual valvesprings with a stock ls1 cam. I want to do this because I will be installing a turbo about a month later after. I want to make sure there are no problems running naturally aspirated before I install the turbo. Would this be ok or would that be too much spring pressure. Thanks.

It's not the cam that will be stressed by more spring pressure, it's the lifters. Are you leaving the stock heads on? If not, a decent set of lifters is cheap piece of mind especially if your 5.3 is higher mileage. Lots of people run the stock lifters with decent sized cams all the time though. It's all about how cheap you want to be and whether you sleep easy or not.

Sorry I'll be using a ls6 cam not ls1 cam. Also, I am installing the stock 5.3 heads and new ls7 lifters. So will I be ok using duals while naturally aspirated and then going turbo a couple weeks later. Or do you think the duals are still too much for that size cam and boost (max 15lbs).

I'm interested in this too, got patriot gold duals and an LS6 cam, stock ls6 lifters ok with this or is it way too much spring for 15lb+ boost?

I'm going to run Patriot Gold duals on an LS6 cam in my turbo LS1 Camaro. I was under the assumption dual springs were pretty much a requirement for any substantial amount of boost.
