Default D1SC vs F1A

Looking at opinions for a street only car. I want to run about 12-13 lbs boost with my 347. I am just wondering is a D1 working hard enough at that boost level to create equal heat to a larger F1A? Just need opinions on what to run?

D1SC, it will make more power than you can hold on the street anyway and be alot more usable all around

X2 what cjmatt said

I wouldn't worry about how much boost you want to run but more how much power you want to make.... The F1A flows higher there for will make more power with less boost

Been down the same road. Started with a D1 then ended up with a F1a. Best move I made.
Love the sound, and the responce is great. This to is a daily driver when I do drive it. I was able to hit 640 with a D1. But now I have more to play with, running the F1a.

I too would go with the F-1A. The D-1SC has a 4.10/1 gear ratio, the F series has a 5.40/1. The F series ends up using a much larger blower pulley (more belt wrap) to make the same boost as what would be used on a D-1SC. Bob

I love my D1SC on my 347, my car is street car as well. I am only making 10 psi now and first and most of second gear is a pedal fest.

I just dyno'd 690/648 last week with a D1SC. The D1SC is a great blower, but when pushing it to the limit belt slip comes into play. So starting all over again I would probably would have gone with the F1A because of the larger blower pulley.

I started with a D1SC on my old stock block setup.... if I had to do it all over again I wouldve gone with a F1 to start.

FWIW I now have a F1C.

In short, D1SC is good to get you started and whet your appetite for more power once you get used to it

I could agree with that, Im still just having fun with my D1SC, once you truly get serious about racing then a F1 is the ticket.

Awesome numbers! Was that with an open inlet or with an air filter?

For a street only car, I'm not sure you will be able to harness the power that an F1A puts down unless you're looking to have a highway racer. From a low mph, I think the D1 has plenty of power to roast most tires in first or second gear.

From what I've seen, the resale market for D1's is quite good as well.

Just my 0.02.

dont waste your time with the d1, at some point you will want more than it can give you and you will have to repurchase again. boost is like a virus that gets ahold of you and keeps spreading! you WILL want more!!!

FWIW I just talked to Bob today and found out I can make my F1a a F1c for a great price! (yes I too have the sickness! LOL) needless to say I will be calling him tomarrow to get that started. Bottom line is you wont find a more reputible and trustworthy person on this site IMO and if he recommends an F1a for you thats what you should do.
