Default New best in the Turbo Firehawk

Well after a crazy year of sorting out issues and crappy weather I finnaly got a chance to go to a nice track rental and make some hits on very well prepped track at MIR on Friday 11-11

I also want to thank Modular turbo for promptly shipping me an alternator bracket just in time to go to the rental

The set up
Forged 347
Diamond pistons
Callie's I beam rods
AFR 205 heads
Ported Vic Jr
VA speed cam
PT88
Rossler TH400
Yank 3400 stall
MWC rear with 3.25 gears
325 50 15 M&H radial

All passes were on 15psi

First pass off the trailer two step at 3400 rpm

60'- 1.531
330- 4.162
1/8- 6.358
mph- 117.52
1000- 8.073
1/4- 9.597
mph 147.79

Car felt like it bogged a little so I let the car cool down for a awhile and watch a buddy make some passes

Second pass two step at 3800

60'- 1.513
330- 4.121
1/8- 6.217
mph- 117.57
1000- 8.029
1/4- 9.563
mph 146.56

Car still felt like it bogged some on this pass and also hit the rev limiter on the 1-2 shift. Desided to drive over to the scales to see what the car weighs. I was blown away to see the that the car weighs 3620# with me in it. I really though I would have been sub 3500 with my in it.

Let the car cool down for an hour again and bumped the 2 step again to 4100 for my 3rd pass

60'- 1.545
330- 4.190
1/8- 6.321
mph- 116.08
1000- 8.145
1/4- 9.684
mph 146.26

Car left hard and I pulled the shifter halfway back into second on the launch so I pulled it the rest of the way back not wanting to hurt anything. So I shifted into 2nd early

Overall I was happy with my results from the day but I have a few things I wanted to go over before I making any more passes and my buddy I was there with was done for the day as well so desided to pack it up early and go home in 1 peice.

I want to go over the car again good and make at least 1 more trip out before putting the car away for the year.

Here is a video of the last pass

Definately looks like you need to relocate the trans brake button off the shifter. That's the reason I put mine on the steering wheel

Car looks good Dan. Leaves nice and goes straight.

Oh yeah, put that thing on a diet!!!!

Videos are tough to judge off of, but to me it looks and sounds like your converter is too tight

Congrats on the new best though.

Do you not ever try to footbrake it up and then go to the transbrake?

Turbo's like tight converters. I am set up to be able to foot brake and build some boost too before getting on the trans brake. I can also still add some timing to it to make it spool faster

Congrats on the times. Shake it down some more and turn up the boost and see what it does.

Yep about 8psi just needs more rpm on the launch for a sticky track like MIR not sure I could launch like that at Cecil

Its all good. The tighter converter alows me to load the car more and build more boost on the line. I honestly think my converter could be a little tighter up top. I am only seeing like a 400 rpm drop on the 2-3 shift.

I know I need to spend a little more time working on the tune as I have yet to change my timing tables at all from when the car was procharged. I know I can put more timing to it down low to help spool the turbo on the trans brake

How is your car coming along? I bet that new motor is gonna be nasty

10.5

It is very tight down low. I just think it could be a little tighter up top. Not sure though. I need to sit down and calculate my slip again

Gotta love turbo Hawks! Killer pass. Which rear bar and springs in the back...looks like you are losing some 60 with some twist.

the 60 should be quicker, but cant really put my finger on the culprit.

3600 leave should put you in the 1.4's unless something is slipping

Stock rear springs, BMR drag bar and QA1's all around

The car set up exactly the same with the Procharger and an M6 had gone 1.4's before. Car just feels like it bogs on the hit

This is a little 347 too. I need to work on the tune more as all I have really done it get my AFR's in line no real work on playing with timiing to help things down low.

I am only running 17* on pump and Meth.

I am also debating making the switch to E85 over the winter not sure yet
