is this normal wear for a piston skirt?

there weiscos, checked the bores today, some spots were opened up to about .0065 from .005 at the buildup. motor had 4k on it and 40-50 dyno pulls on it over 3 seasons.

Not normal, but very common.

Mine was the same after less than 5k. Pistons very badly worn because of the long stroke and lose bore clearance. Wiseco's running a whopping 7thou clearance, which I'm sure didnt help at all.

I'm rebuilding and destroking.

Although my previous JE pistons in a different build didnt suffer the same problem. They did had some marks, but nothing worth worrying about and it had ran for around 10k before I destroyed it.

same here I may be going back to the stock stroke on my new build, I already have enough problems def. dont need another

I hear ya, thinking about trying some short skirt pistons but I don't want to loose stability either

Does that piston use a support ring? Can't tell from the piston. Its an extra ring, goes in with the oil control rings.
