Default Camaro SS 370, LSA heads, 76gts **Th400 swap and dyno videos**

Just started pulling the car apart a while ago. It is a 99 Camaro SS that i bought off of here this past spring that had:

TSP stage 1 243s
MS3 Cam
Ported Fast 90
Longtubes with true duals
T56
stock 10 bolt with 3.42s
SD tune

What I'm in the process of building:

Forged 370 10 to 1 comp
LSA heads
LS3 intake
Custom cam
OFI turbo kit...pte76gts, 15ish lbs
meth injection
rebuilt T56
midwest 9 inch with 3.50 gears
SD tune from Dave Steck in St. Louis

I dropped the tranny off at my buddys house last week so that should hopefully be done within a few weeks and I bought a 2004 lq4 lastnight and that will be going to CBI in St. Louis this week. I'm hoping to keep A/C and make it look "nice" and not all hacked up.

I really dont have any set goals for this car but to make it a nicer cruising car than it was with the MS3 cam and hopefully make some decent power.

The car needs to be done before spring time because the wife has alot of house projects scheduled then and I will be working a ton of overtime and wont have much free time if any.

I probably should go auto, but i always wanted a stick car, unless someone can really talk me into switching to a TH400, but TallyTransam is my inspiration to having a really quick T56 turbo car.

Im actually doing everything myself except for the motor and tranny build and tuning. Everyone I have talked to said Cbi was the place to go around here for ls stuff.

And I guess I do have a goal for the car, my cbr went 10.4 @ 140 so I would like to beat that. The member I bought the turbo kit off of went 11.0 @140 with a 6.0 on 14 lbs and a six speed with bald nittos. Im going to run 28/10.5 et drags for the track.

I know this question has been asked a million times, but who is a good person to talk to about a custom cam for rectangle port heads and a turbo. I need to get on ordering one.

I would look into a T6 turbo. That 76gts is a sick turbo but will be at it's limit on a 370. You will also want more sooner than later and going T6 will allow a bunch more options.

Post up some pics though.

What CR are you going for?

I already have the 76gts so im just going to stick with that because I want it to spool quick with the six speed. Im going for 10 to 1 compression.

I just got back from dropping the motor off at CBI. Chad seems like a pretty cool guy and he is treating me right on the price I believe. He had two 1000 hp c6z's there, one being his and the other belongs to the guy who will be tuning my car.

I think you'll be happy with Chad. He's a good guy. Keep us posted.

Im happy with the PT76GTS on my 370 (9.6:1 compression, TU1 cam, 317 heads only bowl ported). My first time out in the car went 9.68 @ 141 1.41 60ft. at 3700lbs with my A/F still pig rich at about 10.7:1 up till 5300rpms then leaned out to about 11.3 (E85) , 18psi of boost and timing only at 14 degrees.

Checked my data logs, left the line at 11.5psi boost, short shifted at 5500rpms out of 1st gear (powerglide). I leaned it out some and was then starting to have bad traction issues....100% stock suspension and drag radials.

Im pretty confident if I shed a little weight, replace my stock driveshaft and upgrade my 9" yoke and pinion support so I can use the trans brake, and put slicks on the car... get the A/F dialed in better, give it a couple more pounds of boost and some more timing it, maybe some suspension goodies, could break into the 8s.

Limited?? Maybe... but its a street car and it spools right now and makes good power. Especially with a 6 speed... I think this turbo would be PERFECT!!!

It is a great turbo but after my own build I wish that I would have went T6 from the start. The T4 flange starts to limit turbo choices. I also started with a T56 and now have a RMVB TB TH400.

Sounds like a sick build. Are you on any of the local boards?

Someone told me those LSA heads were cheaper than L92s, that true? That'd be nice considering they are built from FI.

The lsa heads are 900 assembled which isn't bad. Im on stlspeed as heyman.

I want to run those guys when I get my car going. I know I wont be making 1000 wheel but I think 900 on kill isn't completely out of the picture. If I put a auto in it I might have a shot.
