Default wastegate 38mm tial

I bought this 38mm tial wastegate used and I noticed the top port is blocked off. Should this be vented or capped?

There is a little threaded plug that resembles a cork that you would use to plug that port if you are not using a boost controller.

You can leave it open or put a plug in it. Like willizm said it is used if you have a boost controller. Just hookup your boost signal to the connection at the bottom

Well thank you both for the info. The sts install paper work sucks big time and looking at my turbo car is a pita and a little different.

What about the wastegate to hit side pipe should there be a gasket there? Does not show one in the instructions but I would think exhaust would leak without one?

I just rehooked up my Tial WG to my hotside and didn't use a gasket although it is a v band clamp. Does your WG come with a little ring that goes on the inlet side of the WG?

See here, that little ring that fits inside the opening. I have it on my 44, but wasn's sure if you had something similar to your 38.

Mine is a 2 bolt flange and has a similar ring. But the ring does not fit inside the flange for some reason ... that's why I asked there is a 3mm gap between the 2 flat surfaces. Plus the ring on the WG almost touches the putter edge of the flange. Its a sts pipe with the same tial WG that comes in the kit?

I don't know how to post a picture with my phone

If you got an iphone, download the photobucket app, upload photo to your photobucket account, copy the IMG link and paste it into this thread. Is this a used WG? Have you tried to clean out any buildup that is on the inside of the ring? I had to do that with mine before it would fit inside nice and flush. Also, Tialsport has a diagram for each WG IIRC.
