Default 370 or 408 ?

Looking to do a Single turbo setup, hate to buy a forged crank and not go stroker. Will a 408 make more power and be just as dependable as a 370 or is it a must not to go stroker with a turbo. Would like to do Trickflow or afr 225 9 to 1 comp and maybe a PT88? around 15-18psi would love to hit 750-800 RWHP if possible i'll be using truck manifolds on the setup also. any input appreciated

Save your money and just use a stock crank. Im building a single 76mm turbo 10 to 1 comp 370 and I should be around 750-800 whp on 15 pounds.

another vote for 370 with a stock crank at that power level. only reason i'm using a 402 is because i already had it in the car n/a.

Any street use? Me and buddy had 91mm with 408 and 370. Both made about same power but 408 had less lag.

Almost all engine builders will tell you shorter stroke= more reliability. But if your going to buy a forged crank and what not, you should check this out

It's an in between of your two choices. I bought this engine and I'm planing 1000rwhp.

Good info

What would the HP difference be between the 370 and 408 if everything else was equal(amount of boost, heads, etc)?

408 will make more power with all things being the same due to the extra cubic inches however I just tore mine down and have to replace pistons due to the 4 inch stroke causing a large amount of wear on the piston skirts.

Turbocharger will dictate power, not the engine size. Engine size will affect spool and how the power is delivered, but there will be negligable difference to overall power available

370 and pt 88 would work really good.

There is a slightly used pt88 in the eastern classifieds if you are interested.

What about a 370 with a GT91? Is that turbo too large for a 370?

Dave has an ERL block. The longer sleeves stabilize the piston with the 4" stroke. I always had a lot of skirt wear with a 4" stroke on a stock block.
