How would u make 700rwhp? How would you make 700 rwhp with 10,000 dollars? The catch is the 10,000 dollars has to be used for motor,turbo/ nitrous and tranny. I want to used an LS based engine and this will be a street car. Thanks for your inputs in advance
sell your car and put the 10k and the money from selling your car into buying one for sale on this site. theres a ton of crazy deals for cars on here that people have spent twice what there asking for.
6.0 forged pistons/rods stock crank with stock heads va speed cam vic jr intake 80mm turbo th400 trans made 753whp on 16psi pump gas.
i built motor and trans myself so that saved some cash but this could be duplicated for less than 10k.

The whole reason I got into LSx engine base, is because there is no guess work at anything under 2000hp.
If you want 500whp, you use X cookie cutter build.
If you want 1000whp, you use Y cookie cutter build.
It has all been done before and all you have to do is copy the 20 or so guys that did it all before.

Are you set on FI? A 408 can be easily be built to get you over 500 rwhp without exotic parts. Add a shot of N20 and you can achieve your goal. While filling bottles is a pain, hard to argue with the low initial cost for the power gains.
Don't forget at 700 rwhp you will also need a new rear end, driveshaft, torque arm, frame connectors and LCA's.

Prices are approx but I've seen plenty of parts around for cheaper than I've listed. That's only $5500 so it leaves plenty left over for misc and things I've forgotten like trans cooler, fuel line, oil feed and drain, etc. Run stock heads and E85 and have fun.

If you do all the work yourself you could easily hit that number with FI. But if you wanted something turnkey then that's another story. I don't think you can make it with that cash. So not knowing how much work you're going to do I'd say here's a list of things to put to a spreadsheet:

That's my build list for 800 hp. It comes in at $8350... The key is all in the tuning...
I would say a quality wastegate alone will be $300-400 and add in a decent blow off valve. Tial, Precision, Turbo Smart or JGS would be recommended in the 44mm + size wastegate. You can get a 2 bar map used for around $40 or even if you get new it's under $100. I haven't seen many used LS6 intakes go for under $300 either. You may want to price out all the piping with v band flanges, flex section and silicone couplers, it adds up quick. $250 seems like a lot for an oil pump, $120 for the standard volume melling. By the time you get the turbo shipped to you it's going to be a little more than $600 too. Most guys run aftermarket gauges in there cars too but I do not so thats another factor. $50 + for a decent air filters, afe or k&n.
Does this junkyard 5.3 come with a computer and harness ? If not there is another few bucks. All this is assuming you have the ability to weld everything yourself. Welding supplies can add up too.

look this cant be done. well i take it back it can be done but will not last more than your first romp on it. theres more than just a ls motor, more than just a turbo, more than just a tranny. each section has dozens of very expensive parts that quality is needed at 700rwhp. not to mention the rear end work and suspension work. have you been in a 700rwhp car? how bout 500rwhp. why dont you start there as 500 is more attainable. sounds like friend A has X hp in his car and you need Y hp to beat him IMO.

well I currently have an LT1 396 in my car now and a friend wants to buy it, and i been wanting to try the ls engine. i was just wondering if that would be enough money to get me to that hp. I know its not enough for suspension and rearend. I am foucus on motor, turbo and tranny and get it running for the $10,000, then i will do my rearend and suspension.

To all those that posted parts and prices, thank you. Vague it can't be done posts just aren't helpful. To the OP, I believe your goal is reachable. Do a search for nitrorocket his ls1 chevelle is what made me fall in love with the turbo ls motor. Twin turbo, stock crank, lunati rods, pistons 800hp all built for 12k. Doing the work yourself is key. Anybody can spin a wrench and everybody has a friend who can weld. I've started my parts collecting with a junkyard '05 6.0 complete from intake to pan with 317 heads for $500. I can't wait to be able to make outrageous horsepower claims. Sorry for the rant and good luck with your build.
700rwhp is a new ballgame. there is a thead somewhere around here called the real price of forced induction. nitrous would make things cheaper for you although i am not a fan personally i thought about it a few times in the name of my wallet. there are so many hidden costs you can't and won't see until your in the middle of the build. and piecing it together from used parts will take a while since youll be trying to save money. the best idea has been sell it, and buy one that has it done. really great advice. mrdavid was supposedly selling his...and its a nice ride. might wanna check on that one. there was also a TTTA @ 954rwhp from LMR for like 22k i think with a forged ls3 416 ci

Thanks everybody for your inputs I did nitrous on my lt1 setup but fell in love with the force induction world. Just wanted to see if my goals were possible. Just didn't want to drop a lot of money in this car cause it's just a play car. Got a 09 chevy corvette and it cost to much to play with.
yeah im hooked on boost myself lol. had a single stage wet kit on the car a few years ago.
