Default Finally done with gauges and happy with the setup :)

I'm a gadget freak and like to be well informed without lugging a laptop around all the time, not to mention the tracks here are getting on my case about having an unsecured laptop in the car. Finally found a happy place I think

Autometer phantom fuel pressure and boost, The phantom boost gauge with the recall is nice, it uses a GM 2 bar MAP sensor and calibrates itself to the barometric pressure (like the car does with the MAP) everytime you turn on the key. That guage will save my life one day since I find myself staring at the boost guage way too often.

Also a scanmaster for watching KR and looking at things like IAT and coolent temp and a tech-edge 2OA wideband kit. I have ran the MAP sensor and the wideband to the a/c pressure sensor and EGR sensor so I can log boost and a/f off the wideband in EFIlive if I choose.

Plus a raptor shift light and B&M trans temp guage, I think I'm done

Looking good, some gauges are a must.......I try to use one eye to look at both fuel pressure and boost, I got lucky and had one of those old FP autometer gauges that had to be recalled and got upgraded to a full sweep for free, not a bad deal......

I really like the boost gauge, it also has a settable warning light so if your boost is consistant you can use it for a shift light

Wideband works great, I built the kit myself and it worked right as soon as I applied power. I have ~ 270.00 including the LSU sensor in it, it can log three 0-5v inputs and three EGT probes plus RPM. It also has 32kb of internal logging but I cant get that to download to the only available program for it (software bug), I dont need the internal logger so its a non-issue. I have built the DIY version 1.0, 1.5 and this one is best so far..

Thats a very nice setup you have there. What did you have to do to make the wideband, i`m also interested in making my own?

http://wbo2.com/

If I were to buy a built unit I'd probably go with the innovative for the money, but if you can solder a double sided PCB and follow directions this one works pretty well and the sensors are cheap.

I wanted the digital one but I didnt really see any good reviews on them, the autometer using the MAP sensor seemed like the better setup, plus I have enough LEDs in the car already

Its the newest one, 2.0a rev3. Its the only one that can use LSU sensors.

The Scanmaster lets you read all the stuff like atap, O2's, knock retard, IAT, ECT, touble codes, TPS etc. It also records the lowest the O2 and highest KR during a run and at what MPH it happened. The default display is O2s on the left and knock retard on the right. Its nice having a real time display of KR right in front of you. Weighs about as much as a pack of smokes and just plugs right into the OBDII connector..

KP,

I'm a lot like you when it comes to wanting to be informed. I currently have a complete logging setup (WB, FP, Boost, Alky Control + EFI Live stuff) but it all requires my laptop. It works great, but I get tired of lugging my laptop around with me.

I have an older version of the techedge controller that I built a few years back and it still seems to work great.

I have thought about the scanmaster before, but it seemed a little pricey and I could never get a clear explanation of exacly what it could do. Where did you buy it and is there any information available on exactly what/how it displays. Is it just ODBII, or does it do any ls1 specific PIDs.

They are closer to 52mm (2 1/16), you can put red or green filters on the bulbs, the boost guage also has a settable warning light which is good for a turbo I guess..

I bought mine used, they pop up once in a while for 175.00 or so used and thats not a bad deal. Dont know if I would spend the 319.00 or not but it is a handy little thing..

Yea, except for the O2/KR display it only displays one PID at once though, you have to scroll through them. Its a handy thing to have though, especially with the the useless temp guage, plus i can see My IATs before each pass and by that I can pretty much predict what the car will run..
