Simple answer, the 9:1 compression motor would make more power more safely on 91 octane.

X2! All other things being equal. An engine is nothing more than a big air pump. The more air you can pump through one, the more fuel, and the more air/fuel burn. A long stroke high compression engine though could be a different story compared to a standard stroke lower compression engine.

Im using a fluidyne hd lightning heat exchanger and a 5 gal res for extra water to help keep everything cool i also have alky meth kit for when i turn up the boost to 15 lbs ,the meth kit isnt being used with the 10lbs.

Also one thing that i havnt heard any one say anthing about is cam choice because that also affect compression

If I were to keep the motor running 11:1, or lower compression for that matter, I would get a custom cam spec'd.

Any videos of that 408?

What are your power goals? Adding meth? The higher compression will make more power to a certain point. You will be limited to a horsepower number much lower than what 9:1'ish can do on pump gas. Would you be happy with a max of 600rwhp at 11:1 or rather 750+rwhp at 9:1?

I'm running a stock long block LS3 with TVS2300, Pat G blower cam, and bolt ons. 10.7:1 compression is stock on an LS3 I believe. Just had it on the rollers a few weeks back. It's been running like this for almost 3 years. 642/580 on 93 octane. 9:1 would be really soft on the street.

For all of us to give you the best advice we can, we need to know your goals. Track, street or both? Power? You've already stated that you want to stay on pump gas but what about methanol injection? Parts/build budget? Give us a little more info and we'll help out as much as we can.

I just started this thread because I got thinking of the LS9 blower for my 408. It would be a long time down the road but just wanted to see what direction of blower and compression I would want to run.

Right now I have the following:

LQ4 408 11.4:1 compression
Forged Callies/Wiseco internals
231/239 Pat G cam
Stock LS3 Heads/Intake
Built 4L80e and Yank SST3200
8.5" 10 bolt VAGINA rear end

I just built the motor this summer and have only put about 1000 miles on it. I have already blown up the rear end. Its on a rack right now either waiting for a new gear set/bearings or a 6 lug 14 bolt. I just don't have any money right now. So once the rear end is able to handle more power, I will be looking for some kind of blower.

This truck is a daily driver and when buying parts for it, I have to keep that in mind. That's my number one priority. That said, I don't care what numbers it puts down on a dyno, I just want it to be fun as hell to drive. I was thinking the LS9 2300 eaton, or the new SLP 2300. Maybe a kenne bell cause lets be honest, those sound nasty. What do you guys think about prochargers? I could run a big air/air inercooler with that and might make it a little more safe for my application.. Any input is appreciated

I think this is a different type of comparison though. I've noticed that positive displacement blowers are a lot more forgiving on high compression motors. High compression+pd blower complement each other. With a turbo, or a centri, it's not the same.
Although it does seem like if you can pull off a high compression turbo/centri build they make great torque numbers. Seems like it's due to the higher comp too. I could be wrong, but these are just somethings ive noticed.

I could only imagine how responsive that thing is.....

Are Kenne bell's just liquid cooled? and is that enough to bring down intel temps?

I would really like to run something inercooled. Like the new TVS2300.

Yea the kb's and the tv's are liquid cooled they both use similar systems , my system for my setup is alittle over kill as far as the heat exchange and pump go but it works.
