383 with a d1sc
so my friend is switching setups from a na 383 to adding a d1sc on it. im going to be selling a lot of parts for him or trying to trade a lot of parts just trying to get a idea of what we need to do to make his goals. rite now theres a huge cam in it 10.7 compression with 66cc trickflow ported 225s and a vic jr. hes going to have to sell the trickflows bc his compression is to high and get some ported 317s. his goal is around 600-675 at the wheel. hes a m6 with a 9 inch with 4.30s hes probably going to need to swap that to 3.73s from what ive been reading. so this is what we are aiming for
383 with 317s around 9.7 compression
ls6 intake ported stock throttle body
d1sc 12 pounds of boost
brute speed blower cam
is there anything else he should be looking into to make this setup run perfect? hes new to the pro charger world thanks for your input

that cam may bleed off boost. a blower cam exists for a reason. sell the cam you got an put the money towards a brutespeed cam. i think you are looking for a 114-115 lsa.....with a 590-608. its close to that in specs. if he has a forged motor he can run a good bracket and max it out and easily surpass those numbers.

Just an FYI. He is not looking for big power. A car that makes good power N/A will make good power under boost. I made over 800 with my D1sc on my 383. And I have yet to see a 383LS motor that was not forged. IMO!!

hes been playing around with compression and head gaskets if he gets a thicker gasket he can drop his compression to around 10.18 so that would be good for 10 -12 pounds. and yes its fully forged compstar and diamond everythigng. he dosent want to go crazy just start off on low boost making around mid 600 then eventually up the boost to 16 and see how high it can make. anyone every use brute speed lsr pro charger cams on the brute speed site? they make any good power? if not hell just get the brute speed fi cam. he loves the sound of a slight chop and having the procharger whislte so thats what hes aiming for!

i have a so called "non-boost friendly" cam and i didnt bleed off any boost.
my cam specs are 231/234 .648/.598 111LSA.
save ur money and keep the cam and see how it does. you may be surprised.
and yes, bobs blower cam from brutespeed has proven its self a **** ton, do some searches for it.

Silly rabbit!!! Leave the dam motor alone. Just bolt the dam super charger on. I have a 383cu with a d1. I have worked my way to actually overspinning the blower to the point where the blower runs out of steam at 5k. And thats with a so called blower cam. Compression is your friend with a D1 and a 383. With the current heads cam on the car I am sure the motor is flowing quite well. And that will be the limiting factor with the d1.
And just for a little comparisson for your friend. Tell him to look at the ls2/LS3 and also the LS7 motors. Those motors all have more compression on stock pistons which are cast I might add compared to his built motor. And I know quite of few of those cars running D1 chargers and making over 12PSI. He will make amazing power with a blower and his current setup so just run the dam thing.

Not sure about pullies. If he is running a 7.25 damper I would start with like a 3.70/3.55 to shoot for 12lbs. But he will be around 750 with 12lbs. That with a stick car. Meth and a good intercooler is the key to keep it cool.

He can get away with his current compression, but a meth kit would be highly advised.
My 383, similar compression, with meth see's 16 psi and over 700 rwhp no problems.

Yes, two Walbro pumps t'd together in the tank with 80lb injectors will do the job for 600-675 rwhp. Bob
