Are the gen 4 rods shown on the left also the rods used in lq9's and pretty much all engines from 2005 and newer? (even though technically lq9's are a gen 3 engine)

I cant confirm, someone like skinnies, who has seen the inside of a known late model 5.3, or 6.0 would know more than I, at this point.

I have two fresh LY6s Ill be tearing down soon, I can confirm that in a week or 2.

Ah, I understand that. By the time the sensors are picking up knock, it could be too late.

I thought you guys were saying to not run knock retard though.

Thanks for elaborating.

Just for reference,

I had a 2001 LQ4 I ran all last year. The gen3 rods lived all year at 650 to 675whp with no issues at all. At the end of the year I added some boost (740whp) and all was well untill the car unloaded the tires and thats the pass it bent 3 rods.

I would also like to ask, any reservation dropping the bottom end and swapping to new rods like a cheap set of scats? Say for an engine with 70,000 miles?

If I keep my rx7 we'll be putting twins on it and shooting for 1000+ rwhp later this year, all will come down to if we can get time to work on it, right now just too busy working on other peoples cars. I will say I don't think rpm is the issue, at least not at 6500rpm shifts.
Bump for some curiosity...Skinnies did you ever figure out the key to no rod bending.

As someone who has bent gen3 rods, I'd say its keeping the torque curve under control.

My car hit 800ftlbs at 4000rpm and it hit it hard. The car is 3600lbs as well. I made a few hits starting around 2500rpm and they ended up bending. Im almost positive if I would have been controlling the boost better (aka slower) I could have kept the motor alive. My timing curve wasnt aggressive at all in this region either.

The motor was very happy around 700-750whp/tq. I only spun the motor 6300rpm on the street. Just my experience

that is unreal tq at such a low rpm - what was the combo?

My turbo doesnt go positive until about 3500 and nothing is happening till about 4000. I'd like it to come in sooner, but it may be a blessing in sense that it is keeping things from blowing apart.
