Default limits of the ls6 block

Okay a local performance mechanic is trying to sell me a refreshed race engine. It is an ls6 that went a 9.6 (high Colorado elevation) in a quarter mile in a vette. It is $8,000 for installing and tune. It will be re ringed and new bearings. What do you guys think? I'm still wanting an ls3 I think...

1st: Why are you posting in this section?

2nd: It's going to take a lot more information to give you any advice on that decision.

It will have the same reliability issues of any aluminum.

Harlan went 8.3 with an LS6 block back in 2003 or 2004.

I made 867rwhp with one, only went 9.40 I didn't want to go faster than the guys on here and give them a complex.

Ls6 block can take more power than what 95% here can use.

With a build list of "all forged parts", I would pass. There is way too much detail there to make an educated decision...

That's a walk in the park for a correctly tuned LS6 block.
