Default trying to figure out this precision wastegate with no controller

so i have a precision 46mm wastegate have the green 9lb spring and am seeing anywhere from 10psi to 11 psi... yesterday was hitting 11psi no problem and today wont go above 10, spring only. anyways thats not my problem just thought its weird.

problem is i went from on the 9psi spring to the 9psi plus the natural 1.5 psi spring hopping for around 12 lbs. I put that in there and it jumped all the way to 14psi before i hit my fuel safety cut. thats a big jump for a little spring and i dont know how high it would have gone.... i reconfirmed the springs took out the small 1.5psi spring and boost returned to 10-11psi. has anyone else seen something that drastic on such a small change?

the 1st thing could either be gate placement or your signal source to the gate. your second issue is stacking springs doesnt always work the way you want like that. 2 springs working together will most likely go a little higher.....i've personally only seen like 3-4lb MAX. i try to stay with a single spring and MBC if i need to up the boost

Gate placement and size have great effect on it.

Example: My Nova with a single 70mm and a perfectly placed 48mm gate made almost exactly the spring pressure advertised. A GTO I worked on with twin 67's had not quite perfectly placed 38mm gates and you had to mess around with the springs to get it right.

personally i think that is a big gate for 10 psi. think every time that opens you now have a 44mm hole in your exhuast. personally i would try with smaller gate. i love and only rock precision stuff. never used big gates. just the little 39mm one

I have the same gate. Worked fine with the 6lbs spring, 10lbs and now the 18lbs one.
How do you know its wrong? Gauge or logging it? I never even use a gauge. You could be getting burst pressure readings instead of static also...

logging via map sensor. I am getting a new controller thinking Hallman. don't know if the extra expense an eboost is gonna be worth it to me

That gate works great, used it in a lot of setups with it being very accurate and not jumping around, you have another issue going on.

what other issue could it be, bad gate? i mean i have short reference line running from the turbo to the gate and the top of the gate vented... running spring only.

too small of line, hole in line, leak at the fittings, not loading the car the same, tune, springs binding when installed, gate placement, etc etc

got a pic of your setup? who built it?

Also its better to refernce boost off the intake and not the turbo. The intake is where you want the boost to be whatever you set it at...not at the turbo.
