Has anyone ever done this to their truck manifolds?

I never though about trying to clear the alternator... Now that's outa the box. I think for machining though you would be limited on the angle due to the machined counter bore GM puts into the end of the drivers side manifold.

Even if I can't be the one to make any money off this idea, it would be cool to see someone offer these as a product!

im sure there is a sponsor on here that has the necessary machinery to do it and would love to have the program that you wrote to do it, so if you decide you are unable to make them, then i would email it to whoever is willing to take this on , so that way everybody can have badass manifolds like you

btw good job, very impressive

That picture looked chopped, honestly. I was laughing... now I'm not.

I have a pair of APS manifolds that currently only work with APS turbos... lol...

I'll gladly pay the $100/hr so I can use these ***** on my car instead: http://www.tialsport.com/prod%20ss%20turbo.html#sgt3035!!!

In the "FWIW" dept: I checked w/ a machine shop that has the capabilities. The resulting quote made me QUICKLY come to the conclusion, that weld ons are "just fine!
10 sets priced with amortization of the start up costs: $295.00/set. Oh well.....

IMO even at $300 for a set of "turbo manifolds" proven for 1000hp + still is on the cheap side especially knowing there milled into the manifold vs welded.

Give me a couple of weeks... I might be able to setup something with a guy I used to work with.

Very impressive. I assume you could get your companies interest if you lined up a group of members sort of "group buy" style and set aside a set time to run say 10 sets, the shop time would be lower and profit could potentially be higher for the company. Rather than a set here and there and constant tooling changes... Just my .02.

FWIW, Mike Brown went 200+ MPH with truck manifolds. Probably will support a little over 1000hp I think. Cool idea!

I am certain that you cant mill the manifolds further back in order for them to clear the alternator (not enough material and such) but I'm going to look into it. I do have access to the tools to do so. I have had zero problems with welding them.

Should machine in a little raised triangle onto the surface, and then a V-groove in the mating one.. So they seal tight. I always wondered why they make them fit flat to flat like they are....mine always seems to have a pinhole leak somewhere.

Even some of the China V band assemblies have male/female v band flanges now.

great idea!

no need for anything more than offsetting the pipe if you are worried about leaks when doing vbanding... it helps with alignment when you are fitting stuff up too.
