Default Rear Mount GTO Pics

Just finished up a rear mount on a 2005 GTO. He supplied the major parts (turbo, intercooler, wg, bov, fuel parts) we took care of the rest. Pretty happy with the way it came out. Currently at 5 psi and will likely turn it up to 8 psi in a week or so after he drives it around a little. Put down 403hp and 413ftlbs on a mustang dyno, cant wait to see what it does turned up some.

Parts rundown:
2005 GTO
Stock LS2
Stock A4
Masterpower 70mm .96 AR
2.5" hotside and coldside
Ebay 3" core intercooler
Tial BOV
Turbosmart 38mm Wastegate
Walbro intank with 72# injectors
SD Tune

Ill post the dyno graph tomorrow

nice to see one of these. I recently saw one a few months ago on a new camaro. clean kit. I bought one for my trans am years ago when they were still working the kinks out of it, so I did my own modifications.

think it might help it breathe/build more power with some bigger exhaust piping?

very clean build though!

I second that on the pipe size, maybe it's choking it down? Seems like it should have out down more than 403 hp. Good job otherwise, looks sanitary under there.

Pretty clean kit, Im thinking the piping is a little too small aswell.

I like whole idea for the exhaust tips but is it just me or is the passenger side sticking out further?

the power goal before we started was roughly 480 at around 8#'s, im pretty confident itll do it. the 5# numbers are about what I would expect.

I suggested 3" hotside but the customer wanted 2.5". At this point I don't think its holding it back but it will probably play a part with more boost.

very nice build.

i thought everybody always goes with 2.5" piping on the hotside for under 600hp?
specially on a rear mounted setup to keep the velocity there compared to a 3.0".

Looks very, very clean. Ground clearance looks great too, nice job. And considering its a mustang dyno, those numbers arent bad at 5psi for a stock motor. probably 430-440 on a jet.

to add to that, that tranny is eating up some power also

I was thinking the same thing, that the remote mount may need a smaller dia hotside to make up for the lack of heat in the turbine housing...I wonder if lag would increase (how ever negligible an amount) from switching to a 3in?

Wow thats alot of piping. Turn the boost up. 5 psi is hardly worth doing speicaly with how far that air has to travel. It looks good dont get me wrong but a cam tune long tubes and ls6 intake manifold would have made close to that on a dyno jet. Every mustang dyno in my area reads 50-60 wheel higher then a dynojet

I disagree. Its definitely worth doing to have a car that drives completely factory until you get into boost, and has the ability to add 80-125 more hp by spending 5 minutes removing 6 cap head bolts and swapping springs. Boost will be turned up, but the owner wants drive around for a week or so and get used to the tire spin that comes along with 400+ rwhp/ftlbs and 19" Nexen street tires before we throw another 80 hp at it. My car, it would have 10#'s in it right off the bat, have to treat customers cars a little different.

in regards to mustang vs dynojet numbers, our dyno reads about 4-5% lower than dynojets on RWD and FWD applications, about 10% on AWD. At least that is what we have seen on cars so far

This is my car and I absolutely love it. The piping is perfectly sized for quicker spool times. The boost will eventually be turned up. I would love to see a cammed, intake, long tubes put on 70+ horsepower by spending $30. Pop a different spring and boom. This car drives stock when not in boost, it spools quick, and holds boost. Nothing was compromised and the guys at SS Performance did a phenomenal job on this build. A lot of research was done prior to the build and this car will EASILY attain higher numbers with a quick spring swap or boost controller. Right now, I'm enjoying hearing that turbo and the feeling when I lift off the gas of having this bov just scream at you after you just got sideways. Cam and long tubes just don't do it for me.

Car is wicked man!!! I love it!!!!
Congrats and I totally agree... Turbo's sound SO sweet...

hey... under cruising (just cruising around town at part-throttle) can you hear your turbo spooling up and down when you accelerate/decelerate?

Also... when that gate opens up, what does she sound like?
Sounds like a bunch of air escaping? or?...

Looks GREAT!!! I LOVE it!

How is the spool time with the T4 .96a/r housing on a remote setup?

Def one of the cleanest rear mount GTOs Ive ever seen. I cant imagine having turbos and under 500hp... although thats obviously what the customer wants. Im sure he will be back wanting bigger in a couple months.

i bump for 3" exhaust...should notice a difference.

with regards to the power and boost... 5psi is not a lot of boost at all...it will tremendously pick up power as you up the boost. I know.
