Turbo Firehawk build up V 3.0 AES 385 and S88
#42
A little more progress was made
Valve train is in pushrod length and lifter Preload are good to go
Installed the intake and valve covers
I am as far as I can go with the motor until I order the improved racing oil pan baffle and the Kurt Urban Performance water vapor system. I should be ordering these along with the GT88 turbo and Yank Torque converter in the next two weeks when I get my tax return.
I did go get the car from my parents garage and bring it back up to my house so I can start working on it again. I might haul it into work tomorrow if we are still slow.

Any thought to getting a conveter custom spec'd to what your trying to accomplish?
I think that's the one thing a lot miss the mark on, and with how far you have come and the amount of effort and money your putting into the hawk now, I would want no stone left unturned.
No offense to Yank, or you.
Looks awesome!

Well last year when I did some calling around about converters most place already had a this converter will work good for you "shelf" type of converter.
I was a little concerned about this last year as I didn't want to have to pull the converter to have it re stalled. 1fastbird let me borrow/try his Yank 3400 last season while he was down and it worked well for me. That Yank 3400 stall was the TH400 version of the same stall that MighyMouse uses and it seems to work well for him.
I was gonna buy 1fastbirds converter when he was thinking about an X275 build but now that he has scaled back his plans he is gonna use that converter now.

Well I have made some progress and made some changes in the build as well. The first is a change in the Turbo. I got a good deal on new never used s400 hp-88 AKA s88. It is a T6 divided 1.32AR 96mm turbine with 88mm hp88 compressor from the y2k88 with a borg warner race cover. I picked it up last night. I also ordered v bands and all the pipes to build my hot side. I also spent a couple hours today working on removing the Hvac and stereo stuff.

If you have the ambition, tackle a re-wire job like 'SMKN TA 95' did with those panels. You can also add some metri-pack connectors on various things to make them removable.

If my car ever gets to your level, that's what I'll be doing.

Well I have made some more progress over the last 2 days. I got some of my parts for the hot side. (still waiting on the t6 flange that will be here tomorrow) I also got my expansion tanke for my cooling system.
I cut the flanges off of my truck manifolds and welded on my v-band clamps. I also installed the motor and trans in the car so I can start working on the hot side. I did play around with some scrape pieces of pipe to start getting some ideas how to run the hot side.

Hey Dan, looks great man! Thats my next turbo, lol.
Anyway, on the vbands, did you clamp them together with the other piece before welding them? if not, you might want to check and make sure they are still true and straight.

Well I have a few more updates got my T6 flange and started making my Crossover turbo support brace and a few other things. I have a plan for the waste gate placement that should look pretty cool when done.
Here is the Turbo placement
Start of the merge and crossover
The only thing I don't like is the T6 flange to the turbo. Do you think I should clearnace the exhaust housing a little to make them meet up better

Good stuff Dan, glad to see you keeping the twin scroll, To answer your question, yes, i would def. grind down the inside of the flange to make a smooth transition.
Good stuff on the vband flanges too. Looking great man!
