Default What kind of gains from manifold?

Does anyone have any guesses what i`d gain going from the TTI 2in I.D log with 1.5in primarys to the 2.5in I.D log with 2in primarys? would i gain any power or part throttle performance or would it just open up more potential for higher boost levels? Are there any good articals on how to size manifolds compared to Cubic inches? Thanks for your ideas.

my GUESS would be you would loose boost response time (increased lag) do to the larger piping, but would make more HP with more boost or on the top end.

does the new turbotech log have 2" primaries?
id think youd want the primaries the same, but the log bigger. that way you have the velocity from the primaries, but the flow of the log for both exhaust banks.

George told me the log had 2in primarys but i`m wondering if he didn`t mean like 1-3/4 cause 2in seems way to big. but maybe the primarys are so short it really don`t need much velocity. I have some extra cash that i was going to get a good set of stg2 FI heads from AS and use the stock ones i have for cores. But then i got to thinking if i`d really be able to use the extra flow from the heads if i was still trying to push all the exhaust through the old 2in I.D log manifold. This car is still my primary driver so if the log gains me PT drivability that would be a big plus.

I would definately spend the money on the log before the heads. I think you have a lot more to gain going that route. Especially with the new Turbo.

Later,
Dave

Thats kinda what i was thinking. the name of the game right now is how fast can you get the exhaust out . The manifold i have now would be like taking a 404ci stroker and bolting on 2in dual exhaust. I know you want to get the exhaust velocity high but not to the point of chokeing the motor. There has to be a happy medium and I think rob has done well with the 2.5in log.

Yep, you really can't argue with his numbers.

or you could just take and keep your manifold and make another one for the other side and have a twin.

ive been toying with this idea
