obx vband clamps any good?
guys
i need some 2.25" vband clamps. ive seen a few people say obx vband quality is pretty decent.
if i really have to pony up the 80 bucks x2 then i will, but those obx's are a lot less
race parts solutions dont have 2.25...
thanks

What part of your turbo setup will the clamps be used.
I've used the cheap ones on my exhaust, and they work fine, but I wouldn't use them for a joint that will be under pressure (any coupling pre turbo).
I don't have any experience with V bands for intercooler pipe coupling.

Not necessarily. I've had good luck with ebay brands of stainless VBands. If you want it to seal and positively locate against the other one, just make the pipe inside the vband stick out from the end of the face of the flange and recess the pipe in the other one. That way one is essentially male and the other is essentially female. Much better seal that way.

LOL at that statement. I assume you have overpaid for something and now are jealous of those that have had good results with OBX

As i said in the PM, the OBX Vbands that i bought with the alignment ring inside were twice the quality of any vband ive used before, thick flanges for the clamps, and thick extensions to weld too, means less prone to warping during welding.
I think i gave like 25 bucks a piece or something for them and would buy them again in a heart beat.

Using the OBX flanges as well. Only mild steel I found in 2.25". Mine came with the male/female alignment feature. Fit tightly together.

I welded MS OBX to my truck manifolds, over a year ago, they work great. Just dont over tighten them, I destroyed one clamp trying to use a 3/8 impact driver to tighten it. now i use a little lube and 1/4 drive ratchet. No problems.

You usually won't be able to push the pipe through as it sits. I always had to cut a couple slits in the pipe to shrink them, hammer them through the ring, then weld the slits up. I don't really trust a butt joint on a v band connection, I'd rather have a lap joint there and use the tube to positively locate the joint.
