Well a drag only car would be pretty **** for normal driving and pretty **** when you also need to go around corners.

As much as I do enjoy the 1/4 mile, there's a hell of a lot more to owning and enjoying a car than simply driving quickly for for a few seconds in a straight line then stopping.

If I built another turbo 6-speed car I would use a TR-6060. Much stronger than the T-56. Worked nice in my ZO6 though I only ran it down the dragstrip a couple of times.

i keep an eye on this topic

definitely not anybody doing mid 9's in an ls based motor, 6 speed f body
very few doing it in a vette
couple guys on here either tt or s/c in the 9.7-9.9

its funny how stuff gets exaggerated.. give in another 6 years and i will have broke 10 in one week!

not sure what tiago ever ran while 6 speed, buts hes been 'converted' for several years now as well

you need a light car, or a lot of spare parts.

Theres a guy that ran a 9.86 with a D1SC on here and his car was in the neighborhood of 3600 lbs, 6 speed. Ive ran a 10.5 in my car, 6 speed 3700+ lbs, with a D1.

Thanks Rick. I have a feeling you will be in the 9's here shortly.

Warhawk 427 and a F1C.

Rarely post on here. More of a lurker. I will get some info on my setup up on this site. Deleted all my threads on the GTO forum. Car was trapping high 140's full weight and with plenty more left in it (only made 3 passes). I have made a few changes this year and will be turning it up to kill come the next shootout.

Ive been very fortunate in never breaking any drivetrain components. Although have twisted some halfshafts ( axles as you guys call them )
Ive no doubt I could go faster over the 1/4 and I think 9.5 is a realistic prospect. I just dont really have the interest in trying anymore. I have never broke anything at the track, but there is a good chance of it happening and I just dont see it being worth the risk at the minute.

But I'll never be fitting an auto.

Circa 3500lbs, ran a few almost 10 flat on the old OZ700 single disc before swapping to the triple ExoSkel ( for no other reason than it looked cool and was to be future proof ), and I ran the 9's on the ExoSkel.

Aside from the launch, I wouldnt be hard on a gearbox though. I'm not abusive with shifts, and TBH I dont even think I'm as abusive with the launch as I could be.

I'm not saying everything was fault free. But never once did a gearbox give me trouble ( I still have the original T56 as a spare ), although the triple disc ExoSkel did eventually show durability problems, although it was still working perfectly.

Ive since replaced it with a ACT twin organic purely to make it nicer to drive. I would have re-used the Exo except the manufacturer seemed impossible to buy parts from which was well and truly baffling.

No idea how the ACT would hold with launches, but I dont imagine pushing too hard at the strip in the near future anyway.

I guess I'm going crazy, but I could of sworn you told me you broke 3 in a very very short period of time.
