Default Tial Wastegate Rusts Shut

I want to say I remember folks dissing others for not buying a Tial cause a Tial "will never rust shut" well if I am remembering right, then buzzzzzzzzzzzz!!! wrong, they can rust shut on you. Mine sure did. Thank goodness I didn't pop my motor. Just spent 2hrs disassembling, breaking it loose, cleaning it up and such. Moves freely again now but if your under the impression it won't rust shut, don't be.

If the stem rusted, did you try using anti seize or high temperature grease on it when you reassembled it?

I just pulled my Tial off today, it has 144,000 miles on it. The valve is stainless in mine, has some soot on it but no rust. Are you running gasoline?

I have a 38mm TiAL with the non-race gas valve in it. It stuck after running leaded gas and then letting the car sit for a year. If you have the newer style valve there shouldn't be any issues.

I've had 2 of them do this. I rebuilt 1 and haven't had an issue with it. Taking off the other 1 tomorrow. I'll video the process and post it up along with pictures. I run 110 at the track but normally use pump gas. Not sure if the valves were rated for leaded race gas or not.

I was at the track when they locked. I felt the car come out like an animal and the I felt the motor stumble and got out of it. Checked the plugs and two wine pretty lean. I was lucky.

My car definitely sits a lot. Also I take it out warm it up and do a few blasts maybe to the 1/8 mile and put her away. I take it to work during the nice weather on Fridays. However only 6 miles to work.

I assume it's real. I got it with my STS kit a number of years ago when they first came out, so like 6 years or so?

Regular pump gas, car indeed did a lot of sitting. My commute used to be from bedroom to home office, so there wasn't much reason to drive the car or get into boost.

Sorry, I didn't think to take pics, it's all buttoned up now and no desire to rip it back apart.

My cheap coupler to the TB and worm clamp vs Tbolt saved me I think. I blew the coupler off, hit recall on the eboost and I had hit 12psi. Up to that point the car never saw more than 6. Seems fine though so I think I got lucky and I had put enough safety factor into my tune.

No way not a tial, it must have been a cheap china knockoff as tial has far superior metals than china can obtain

Ok here's some pictures of mine that I just rebuilt today. I took it apart to show the valve, stem, housing and the deposits that form on it.

If mine is a Chinese knock off then please point out how to tell the difference? Everything about this unit seems to be of very high quality. It just forms deposits and sticks.

I'm wondering if the mix of race gas and iron from the truck manifolds is creating the issue. But cleaning them and putting a high qualilty anti-seize on the first one I rebuilt solved the issue permanently as far as I can tell.
