What spark plug to use at 10 lbs of boost
What spark plug to use at 10 lbs of boost i am wondering how cold of a plug i should use on a stock ls1 with a 232/238 cam and a d1sc at 10lbs of boost. i tried looking up heat ranges for ac delcos but i cant find anything for iridium plugs, all i know is the stock part number is 41-110. i also read that ac delco does their heat ranges backwards. Can some one clear this up please. thanks
what do you guys think about my ngk tr55 ix plugs and msd wires at 15lbs with meth and e85? i would not have asked if i had not seen this post....it was the most expensive ws6project had so thats what i got. a year ago.

Ditto on that,a big time local tuner( tuned funny cars for one of the top dogs and others) that used to be in my area ran iridium plugs in his 1000whp fox. 03-04 cobras ran them and I'm almost positive the zr1 has them.as far as tr55 are concerned that's a good question. My car at 4psi it's fine but I'm putting tr6s in before I turn it up

I say all forced induction cars should run the "tr8" plug. Part number r5724_8. There is no down side and they are the safest. I know you can get away with a tr6 at that level,but why?

Remeber the colder you go, most likely chance you will have to replace them sooner. The colder plugs do not clean themselve's like warmer plugs. This means if you run race gas alot, carbon builds up quicker.

If your having them "wear out" faster, bump the timing up in the low kpa and idle regions.
There is so much misinformation on this subject because someone's brother's, sister's, uncle's cousin ran 1000hp with stock plugs or TR6's.
I use to think projected tips were fine in a boosted motor and even argued the point with people I know now who were right.
Non-projected tip plugs ALWAYS in a boosted or nitrous application no matter the boost level.
I'd run a BR7EF, but if your worried, lazy, or don't have access to tuning software to add the 2-3* timing it would take to make them run exactly the same as a stock set of plugs then get the BR6EF's.
I know someone will want to argue this and give an example of so and so doing this and the factory runs this in a stock oem car. I'm not going to argue the point. It is what it is.
fbodyjunkie... ill be running a 408 iron block with a pt88 on 25lbs should i still go with the br7ef plugs...i have not got the car finished yet so getting this right before i take it to be tuned is key...thanks man
