Default What MAF are you running

I have a stock bottom end camaro with D1 kit on 10.xx pounds. It makes 581 to the rear tires. The MAF as well as the stock MAP sensor are both pegged around 4300 rpm. After that it is just running off the VE table of "speed density" from what I understand. I don't like this as from what I understand, one bad tank of gas could be detremental at WOT. What MAF are you guys running making the kind of numbers or more? Right now it has a GM 85mm MAF. I have heard or using "card" or "slot" style MAF's. I know I can run a 3 or 4 bar MAP but any idea which MAF's are good to use so they will read with this power level and higher?

85mm maf for me.my tuner said anything over 8 he does the 2 bar setup. But i think the 85mm maf and a 2 bar would be good for you .

I already have a 85 mm mag and it's pegged out at 4300 rpm or so.

i tried to go the MAF route for adaptability in different conditions such as cross country driving etc.....and went as far as buying a 400+ dollar Pro-M sensor...and it pegged. Most people are forced to go SD. and I would recommend you go ahead and get a 3 bar. if you have to use one, generally most aftermarket pieces are said to be ****. the stock ones tend to be pretty reliable up to a certain power level. just my 0.02

Thanks for the input. I just hate the idea of running SD but looks like I may have to. Will the 3 bar MAP somewhat take place of the MAF? Did you have any driveability issues with running SD? My stock one reads fine up until around 4300 or so. I just don't like the fact that at WOT after 4300, the car is just relying off the VE table.

Speed density if tuned good has good driveability. My car drives like stock and the transition to boost is great. I am running a 2bar on my 98. I originally wanted to run a maf and was talked out of it due to your reasons. But I have yet to see how temperature and altitude affect SD since my cars only been on the road for two weeks

What about running a MAF like the ones that come on LS3's or the ZR1 MAF? I'm sure the pinout would be different but nothing a adapter harness couldn't fix or a soldering gun.

Could I run this on my car? I don't think C6 zo6's have problems pegging their MAF around 600 HP do they? Any idea how to hook this up to a ls1 camaro harness?

This is what I was thinking. Would the above MAF work?

I may be remembering this wrong. But I think I read the limits on the maf is in the pcm itself and can not be changed.
A new maf no matter the size/style won't help.

A larger tube will lower the frequency, however the g/s limit is still a problem. You have to scale the g/cyl tables, timing, etc and you can run as much power through a MAF as you want.
