Project Plain Jane 62 Chevy II TT
Introducing my Girl Plain Jane, she doesn't look like much at first glance. But start peeling her clothes off, turn her loose and look out all Hell is gong to break loose.
This is #1 a "street" car. I'll drive it 5000+ miles a year. My goals are high 8's on stock short block, 20+MPG and drive it anywhere with the A/C and tunes blasting.
This car came into my hands as an 126,000 mile, original paint 1 owner car. Parked in 87, Blake Huges (417 Motorsports) and I went to check her out. After assuring the 75 year old original owner that Blake works on 5-7 Chevy II's a year and having full intentions of "restoring" her, he agreed to sell her to me. I told him I would be driving her the Sunday after driving out his driveway Sataurday. By 6 PM Sunday, Jane and the family headed to McDonalds for Ice Cream!
So much for the boring Chit, now down to the plan. '03 6.0 liter shor block, LS9 heads, gaskets, ARP studs, Mild Comp turbo cam, Precision twin 6262's PW46 WG's, 60mm JGS BOV, custom tube hot and cold side, full aluminum 3" exhaust, either Holley Hi-Ram(if it will fit under stock hood) or single plane w/elbow, 90mm TB, 80lb injectors, Holley Dominator EFI, Circle D triple disk, 4L80e w/Jake's brake, 9" w/40 spline and Strange ultra case.
Chassis:25.3 moly cage (minus forward FC cage), AJE moly strut front clip, DSE mini-tubs, inboarded SRD split mono leafs, Assassin bars, and spring perches, spring sliders, Afco 3870 DA shocks, 4 wheel Wilwood vented rotor brakes, rolling on Weld Magnums 15x10 w/ 3.5" BS w/275/60 radials on rear and 2.0 1 peice fronts.
The ammenities: Vintage Gen IV A/C, hidden stereo, old *** stock bench seats front and rear, stock sun visors, ALL stock steel sheet metal complete with vintage RUST, DENTS and TOUCH UP PAINT!

I've been "Restoring" for 2 months now, and my goal is to drive her to Summer Nationals in July. So far I've striped her pretty bare, sand blasted the under side, Mini-tubbed, setup most of rear suspension, and 2/3's way through cage/chassis build. I have 80% of the parts to get her back on the road.
Check out all my pics on my photobucket album http://s574.photobucket.com/albums/s...ane/?start=all

I bought some 15x10 slotted mags, but as much as I like them they look like chit compared to the magnums. Thought about boting tabs to the magnums to screw the stock 13" hub caps to but that won't work on the fronts. It's not really a sleeper. Skinnies 4 ***** is the ultimate sleeper. I'm looking forward to Drag Week, we went and watched at Tulsa last year and even with the rain and cold it was awesome. Check out my Photobucket albums for some pics of Kevins 325 BMW with the turbo Mitsubitshi stock bottom end engine/ th400, it weith like 2600lbs. They ran 9's on only 20lbs Sunday, after only like 6 passes on the car.
As far as the rear cage supports go, they pass through existing holes in the package tray and tie into a bar that runs side to side directly under the tray. that bar has harness tabs for the rear passengers. From there they curve in around the truck hinges and 90 into the spring sliders. The rear 2b frame rail tie into the 2a/1 crossmember in front of rear seat and travel under the seat and into the trunk terminating into the rear cage supports. At this point/tonight I'm added the roof gussets, dropping the cage to weld the tops of the joints. Then I'll finish the rear sections, followed by the inner F/C cage and then the door bars (which clear the stock arm rests. The wing windows open also, which is why I notched the dash.
This is the first in car cage I've worked on period, and have done all of it myself. 1 thing that I discovered and has helped me tremendously is that 1.25 gray PVC conduit is almost exactly 1.625 OD and will bend in a tubing bender.

It's the kind of car I appreciate. One that even most car guys will walk right by and not notice, but the real enthusist will stare at for hours thinking this is one of the coolest/badest street cars I've ever seen.
I'm a HVAC contractor/tech and have wanted to use an a/c water tank/chiller for A2W I/C, I might do that on this as real estate between the grill and water pump is pretty limited. I like Boosted Ones setup but he doesn't have an A/C condensor or stock hood. I'm anoxious to get the front sheetmetal back on so I can start fabing the turbo stuff.

Any idea how you are going to mount them? I know their isn't much room in the front of the engine behind the rad on these cars. Curious to see how you mount yours since I will most likely change my manifolds next year.
