The wheels are in motion to put a Pro Mag 44 ignition on this sled. Hopefully it will eliminate any doubts on the ignition.

Congrats for killer setup looking forward for 1/4 runs.

Can you please explain why the big diffrence in the A/F between this setup and other regular turbo setups?

Id like to know as well, i had seen someone mention that methanol is oxygen bearing, and that plays a role. But curious as well.

Gas and methanol have 2 different stoich numbers.

stoichiometric on gas is 14.7:1
stoichiometric on methanol is 6.5:1

Basically it takes 50% more methanol by volume than gasoline to achieve the same amount of power, but methanol carries a higher octane than most any race fuels, carries more heat dissipating properties than gasoline which in a boosted application requires no intercooler, in many heads up racing venues that is good for a 100lb weight break over an A2W intercooler and to top it all off you can usually get methanol in volume for 2.50-3.00 a gallon and that is on the higher price range side.

5 gallon pail of M1 is 25 bucks at my local speed/nitrous/fuel spot. I'm pretty sure Phil is probably using M5 though which carries the same oxygenates at Q16, VP113 and VP Import fuel does. MTBE is naasty stuff.

The cost savings in fuel alone with methanol alone seems worth it! Kinda like e85.

This is one bad *** setup. Crazy power at only 15psi

not to mention that engines running meth will run cooler (meth burns at a lower temp) and thus puts less thermal load on the engine cooling system furhter helping get weight out of the car.

I am using standard M1 now. The pro-mag 44 generator/ignition is getting bolted up thursday and we will indeed switch fuel to M5.

Its an addiction I can tell you that.

My motor runs about 1/2 gallon of water total between the block/heads and a 4" round catch tank 6" tall. Does not have any issues getting too hot.

no radiator? still a block mounted pump, or external?

No radiator
No pump
just a 4" round tank 5" tall that feeds water to the heads.
I've got 2 #10 lines that go from the water tank to the heads and 2 #6 lines on the steam ports
Water does not return, just sits in the heads to even out the hot spots.

Phil, bad as setup. Just for comparison and to give you a idea, I am tuning a 632 BBF twin promod 94's, precision 225's and 550's on M5, on BS3, MSD 8 ignition. It's real happy at 4.1 afr and timming @ 21* 18#boost. running EGT'S in all 8cyls and got good logs on temps for the m5
