Default Holset HX55

I have had a Holset HX55 for a while now, getting ready to install. I finally opened it up and measured the wheels. Figure I would post what I found, since it seems to be a frequently asked question.

Exhaust
inducer = 80mm
exducer= 70mm

Compressor
inducer= 68mm
exducer= 100mm

not sure if that is the direct AR measurements or how all that works, but thought I would share the size.

That'll do it!

I like Holset Turbos, they spool quick, they're cheap, they make power, and did I mention they're cheap?

I think you might have measured that wrong. Each wheel has the inducer and exducer diameters. The compressor wheel's inducer side is the small diameter, the exducer is the large diameter. The turbine wheel's inducer is the large diameter, the exducer s the small diameter.

I know for a fact that the hx55 is not an 80mm turbo.

I like it. I dont have any experience running any other turbo on an LS but it does everything I need it to. Full boost at 3000rpm, I can be cruising on the freeway 6th gear and at 2k rpm full boost. Im only running 7psi on fully stock engine and at 525 rwhp. Still running strong over 2 years later. Plus the $200 cost makes it my kind of purchase. No need for big dollar turbos in my book. Plus this thing has massive room to grow. Diesel guys run these turbos up to huge PSI's

You should have no problem getting 600. It is a big heavy turbo, and I did make a pretty serious mount for mine. It's hard mounted to the frame on mine but that was mostly because of the location I had to put it. I have some flex tubing going into it and the waste gate, no problems. No matter where you put it I would definitely fab some supports, kind of goes for all turbos in my mind, just not smart running them straight on the header if they have any decent size to them anyway.

Some more good info here on holset stuff. Ran a hx35 on my 1.8 Acura and made great power. http://www.realhomemadeturbo.com/for...ic,6181.0.html

Usually turbos are called out by the compressor inducer (smaller) ID, which is 68mm in your first post.
A on-line calculator I found suggests max power of about 725 (assuming everything else fits).

Isn't that how I have it listed?
