you could run a set of 5th gen ls3 manifolds that is what I am using and they clear the stock alternator location.

they are on my camaro, if you are trying to overcome 4th gen alt location issues it just barely clears. I had to remove the back cover and I have the flange wrapped with heat shielding. I see that it is going on an s10 so I don't know how it would work with the steering rack but over all it seemed like the ls3's were a tighter/smaller package compared to the truck manis.
