Default Supercharer or turbo

First off I know I have the wrong cam 231/234 .643/598 111LSA (tourqer v3) but I was wondering which forced induction I should look into. I just got this cam last year and have put a 2,000 miles on it but now I want to go faster. I saw a build with a rear turbo mount and it worked. I don't recall seeing many supercharges.

Any opinions?

There are more turbo threads for a reason. It's a bit more involved than doing a simple supercharger kit like the d1sc. Decide which you'd like more and go that route. Superchargers are easier to install while turbo's require a bit more planning and fabrication.

Looks like you would be better off with a simple procharger kit. It would also work better with the cam.

If you go with a supercharger:

It's easier also, to pick up a used procharger kit at some deep discounts.

But, if you decide to start with a procharger with an fmic kit, then there is little from the ATI kit that you will use other than the head unit as you will have to build a custom pipe kit etc. for the fmic.

For example, below are the parts I have discarded from the ATI kit.

http://www.flickr.com/photos/1835930...7623345499537/

3.5 inch intercoolers and brackets
Complete rubber hosing and piping.
Polished aluminum plenum.
Cheap ATI blow off valve.
4.5 inch pulley
Too small ATI air filter
Too small single 16 inch ATI fan - inadequate cfm's
Hacked air dam that is cut too short with ati kit - you will need a new one again.
42 lb injectors
And other miscellaneous parts

Even so - the money you save buying a used kit will open up resources to buy the good stuff so you end with a topnotch installation.

FMIC
Custom aluminum piping
Better blowoff valve
Aster bracket
Smaller pulley (4.38 or 4.25) for more boost
Spal fans - 9 inch and 16 inch extreme
LT1 radiator - you will probably have overheating issues

Thanks guys. So with my cam I should look more towards the supercharger / procharger? I have seen a lot of used kits on here.

Is it possible to piece together a fmic procharger kit for less than what it costs to buy a new kit?

You are correct.

If OP does decide on an FMIC kit I have the steel piping kit that I bought from Bob at EPP (now Brute speed). $50 + shipping.

Note: just the pipe - no clamps or silicone connectors. Below is a pic.

I also have all rubber hoses, clamps, and piping along with the aluminum plenum with the 3.5 intercoolers sans (without) hat, filter, bypasss valve and other misc brackets included in the ATI kit. Pic below. $225 + shipping.
