Default will my cam work in a turbo build?

i bought a cam a while back when i planned on building my ls1... however now im goin 6.0 single front mount...

the cam is a 231/238 on a 114 lsa

lift is 617 on the intake side and 615 on the exhaust side...

it wont be the best, but will work.

throw some lunati dual springs and good pushrods in there too!!

I think it will work very well especially if it's a little larger turbo.

If it's a small turbo with an even smaller turbine side it's going to put a lot of exhaust into the turbine and possibly choke with backpressure at higher boost levels.

As long as the turbine side is properly matched to your motor size I think it will work well.

Also seeing the the lift is less on the exhaust side than the intake makes me like it even more. That tells me that most likely the exhaust lobe is less agressive(still could be more, but most likely not) than the intake which in a power adder motor is very important.

If your turbine side is small install it straight up, but if it's properly matched then install it 2* advanced and depending on how large it is up to 4*.

Run the aftermarket cam like I said it will work well, but the turbo selection could make or break it.

What turbo are you going to run or are looking at?

Hopefully it's at least 92mm or bigger on the exhaust side turbine wise.

It's about valve control not about the numbers.

You want a less aggressive lobe on the exhaust side.

In a forced induction motor the intake air is being forced in. Well it has to get out somehow, and while the air is being forced in the exhaust has to stay shut. Not only that, but the exhaust valve is a lot smaller than the intake valve. High pressure on a smaller surface area versus a bigger surface area equals more force and control needed to hold it shut. If you have some crazy aggressive exhaust lobe or even slightly more aggressive exhaust lobe paired with your intake lobe it's going to make the springs job of controlling the valve train that much harder and near to impossible.

This is why you want a less aggressive exhaust lobe than intake lobe.

If you do go with a 76 make it a S476 with at least the 92mm turbine wheel and with that cam I would want the 96mm turbine wheel.

With that cam and the 96 it will spool really well installed at 4* advanced and have a very strong mid range and top end.

Exhaust turbine size relative to compressor size really isn't what you think in terms of size. Just because the compressor is 76mm and the exhaust is 92-96mm doesn't mean it won't ever spool or do what you want it to. You have to look at everything as a package and not crutch the spool or power with using a turbo that is too small for the motor.

You can't choke a motor of that size with a teeny tiny turbine.
