Default Anyone running a ls9 in a 4.8

I was wanting to put a ls9 cam in my 4.8, I know I need the ls2 timing cover and harness extension, but do I need the three bolt trimming cam sents the 4.8 already has a 3 bolt cam?
I have a feeling i do sent it's an earlier motor and not a 05 and up.

The ls9 cam is cheap but not worth it, find a good used boost cam for 200$ or so and it bolts right in. All that extra stuff adds up

You could have a cam custom ground to the LS9 specs. That way you don't need to change everything over. They are great cams for boost.

https://ls1tech.com/forums/forced-in...cam-4l80e.html

It's now a 5.3 but the first motor was a 4.8, both with the ls9 cam

Yeah I've read that build thread a while ago, so is it worth buying all the stuff to put an ls9 cam in the car?

I am in the same boat! I found a great deal on a LS6 cam, but do not if I should get it or get a brand new Ls9 cam.. I just want the better cam for my 4.8 with 76mm, LS6 intake, LS2 chain.... I am looking to reach 700hp. I don't care about having to buy the extra stuff for an LS9 cam...

Any advice????

I would say the ls9 would be awesome with the ls6 intake.

I know we're not the only two that are wondering about this.

I still don't know if I need to us the 05 and up 3 bolt cam gear or if my 04 cam gear would do fine.

If you are without a doubt about a LS9 cam, just buy it and test fit it urself. If it works ur good, if not then buy the other gear
