Depends on your budget... You'll probably not see 600 on stock bottom. I'd shoot for 500-550 max on stock bottom LS1...just my opinion.

Budget build:
Rear Mount
GT45 Turbo or On3 Performance 70mm Journal Bearing
Z06 Cam/springs
60 lb fuel injectors
AEM Tru Boost 2 Controller
AEM Wideband
Racetronix Hot Wire Kit
Wastegate/BOV
Front Mount Intercooler
Methanol Injection System
GOOD TUNE (Speed Density)
10 lbs boost

High Dollar Build:
Huron Speed Front Mount Setup
Turbonetics 76mm
Comp Cam 228/230/springs
60lb Fuel Injectors
Wastegate/BOV
E-boost controller
AEM Wideband
Racetronix Hot Wire Kit
Front Mount Intercooler
Methanol Injection System
GOOD TUNE (Speed Density)
10 lbs boost

Replacement of Heads and Intake Manifold not really necessary with Stock Bottom. You'll max out your connecting rods before you max out your heads/intake.

Anyone else feel free to chime in / offer up adjustments. Of course this is but ONE recipe, like cooking... there are others.

I was planning on getting ls6 heads and cam combo. the budget build sounds pretty good considering this my first time building an ls1. the way every body talks on here seems to get very pricey. Sounds like a good setup for what i want. Can i use hp tuners to do a good tune or would it be better to have it done somewhere else

if your worried about it being pricy then i would recomend selling the ls1 also. thats what im doing and with the money from that im getting the turbo and a motor with more potential.

I turbo'd mine at 100,000 miles. Stock engine other than 222/226 cam. On a conservative dyno it makes 450rwhp with a loose converter at 6lb boost which would translate to an honest 550 crank hp. It is perfect for daily driving and I commute in it. I do have a very low back pressure plumbing on my rear mount with race quality headers, merge collectors etc plus I run water/meth injection to get more timing on pump gas.

Go for it, but you won't need 10lb boost and I would not recommend it on a motor with 180,000 miles. Instead run a mild cam and very good flowing plumbing, maybe some head work to get some power then run 6-8lb boost. It'll last longer than pulling 10lb every day in my opinon.

I started boosting mine with 172k on it. Car has 204k now dd'ing the **** outta it for over a year now pushing 9lbs. No meth, just 93 octane with 12deg of timming making #'s in sig in summer heat on the dyno @ 6000rpm where it shifts, no problems so far...
