Default How much HP can a stock ls2 handle?

I have an 06 gto with a D1 procharger. Its at 10psi and made 550rwhp through a slipping trans. I just bought a built trans and I'm looking to turn the boost up to about 13-15psi on e85. The bottom end is stock with stock internals. So much question is how much hp can a stock bottom end ls2 handle?

Thanks

I don't think you're going to find a definitive answer. Running e85 will help keep things cool, but I don't know how long or how high it will take reliably.

I agree. The question is also how long. I am running a stock 5.3 with a 180,000 miles on E85 and just to note on this engine I have the coolant lines to the front and REAR. So far it has lasted about 6 months at 25lbs of boost tuning myself. However, at this boost level it could go anytime. I would think at 15lbs with a good tune on E85 it should last for a long time stock. IMO

I made 963rwhp through a glide with mine. It was all stock other than arp rod bolts. We ended up stretching the rod journals.keep it around 700rwhp and it will live for a long time.

How much will it handle on one dyno pull? Or reliably for 50k+ miles?

As two people have said before me, the engine can be tuned to handle 800+rwhp. But don't expect that to stay together for more than a handful of pulls...

On 93, a well tuned LS2 can handle some 5-600rwhp reliably. With E85 you can probably go a little higher than that.

I think the question you really need to ask is who has tuned an LS2 to 800whp and had it last. Then when you get the answer, go to that tuner. Its been done.

Thanks guys and yes I don't except it to last forever making 700+rwhp. The car is a weekend cruiser and track car so it sees make 2-3k miles a year (maybe a little more). But, I would like it to last longer than just the tuning process lol.

I have also been tossing the idea of leaving it on 93 but throwing a meth kit on it instead of e85. I'm still trying to figure out how much of a hassle e85 is going to be to run on the goat. I'm getting mixed reviews on it; some are saying all I need is another fuel pump, bigger injectors, and fuel rails while others have said I need all that plus a return system and bigger fuel lines. Any suggestions?

Who would a tuner like that be? I live in kentucky and we only have 2-3 tuners for ls motors around this area and I have always had the same guy take care of all of my tuning....

Its a hard pretty much impossible question to answer. I agree with Wicked69... its mostly about how long it will last or who can tune it to make it last for a while and to hold impressive amounts of HP. Also depends the parts you use on that block. The engine itself will handle lots of HP but it has to have a great tune also for durability

#'s in sig so far w/katech rod bolts, TR Cheater cam, & 93/meth only spinning it to 6300. This year I'll mix in some MS109 each tank and we'll see what 65-6600 will do.
