and as far as my last comment... turbo setups see more down time than driving around time. somthings always not working right on them. constant jacking around with the setup

They do?

Maybe, Just maybe, you should put a procharger on your car then... Fun Thread...

I'm well aware that you're not arguing with me. You are, however, arguing with others that know TONS more than you will ever know. If you know so much, why are you asking for help? As far as your downtime statement, that's bullshit.

and if thats the case they **** turbos. i cant justify spending this much money on one and 50% of the time people are fixing stuff that dosnt work.
On your map. The end of the line on the right looks like its .21 kg/sec at a PR of roughly 1.4.... 8 psi is roughly a pr of 1.6 so youd be above that... which is good. You gotta be between the two lines to be "on the map".

.22 kg/sec equals 27.8 lb/min... times two is 56.6 lb min...means you have 566 horsepower worth of air available in a perfect world..... 15 percent driveline loss menas you gotta make 575 @ the fly.

See what i mean now?

If you turn the boost up to just 12 psi....it will move .3 kg/sec... 39 lb/min...78 lb/min as twins.... thats enough for 600 rear wheel....

The wheel just needs to make some boost to move the air you want it to move. Thats it. Youve just got to have a reasonable expectation of what its gonna do.

Ive never heard anyone say that wheel moves 60-65. The map you found says it only moves 51.

Theres no need to get made and say the hell with turbos blah blah blah....Just do a little more thinking before you jump into something so you arent dissappointed in the result from either an unreasonable expection or a mismatched combination....

And a mismatched combination its not. A pair of these on a 5.7 is Killer. Your talking about 1000 horsepower easy..... you just have to adjust HOW you get that power using a holset versus a garrett, borg warner, or precision etc etc.

they're GREAT turbos ! I made 400 the wheels on my DSM (2.4 stroker) There was plenty left in it too. Id just find a 4.8 with lowish miles and use that as the basis. You could probably fund most of the project by selling your running LS1.

thank you john. finally getting some honest HELP on here instead of spectators running their mouth. im not a boost person. i know how it functions and the basics but im more of an N/A HCI guy.

as for the pressure i have a stock 90k mile 98 block LS1 that id like to throw these on and make 500 wheel as is.. meanwhile im going to BUILD a motor to handle 20+psi so i can use the internal wastegates on the Holsets..

otherwise what would need to be done to safely run the 20-25psi on these on a 5.3? rod bolts 317 heads 80lb injectors and E85?

8 blade is 50-55 7 blade is usually 60-62 that must have been an 8 blade map

says hx30 on the title but 3 different sites (ls1tech,dieselbombers,and DSMforum all link this picture as a 7 blade hx35 map)

That map doesnt show the wheel moving 60-62 EITHER.... the furthest point to the right of the map is 57 lb min....

Just like i said....lol

Thats actually the Hy35 comp wheel. But theres not an ounce of difference between it and an HX.

That map says you can do 500@ 8 psi with twins.......

Ive ran em myself on a 355.... and i couldnt make em do it.

As far as running 20+ safely... head studs and LS9 gaskets....spring kit, pushrods, and a cam with the corrsct valve events to make em work. AND A DAMN GOOD TUNE is all it really takes.

GM Already built a motor to handle 20+psi... it's the 5.3 (and the 4.8)

5.3: http://www.truckinweb.com/tech/engin...g/viewall.html

4.8: http://www.hotrod.com/techarticles/h...g_bang_theory/
