I'm tired of this 4l60e, i've tried everything with it to brake boost. Only able to get 1-2psi out of the hole footbraking to 1800rpm, anything over that the damn thing goes into second on it's own. Should have my stang wheels with some slicks mounted up to finally get a pass in.
You have something else wrong then. Your converter can be too tight and you tune could be off.

I dont think it's the tune. I've tried everything from loading a factory 2000 A4 z28 tune, disable TCC (Thought it might be TCC lockup), disable auto shift up, lower and or raise line pressure, still does the same thing. Could be the builder that built the tranny or like mentioned converter issue.

Other problem I noticed, after making a good pull on the highway, it takes forever (maybe 2-4 miles @ 60-70mph) for it to lock the converter in 4th gear. Doesn't feel like the trans slips, pulls like a ****.

A member awhile back had the same issue. He found that the trans had the wrong input shaft or something like that but don't quote me on that. I think you need to get that trans looked at to make sure its ok. Call performabuilt or FLT.

I'm also looking at your sig and you say you have a 2200 stall. You don't think that might be on the small side? Especially having a cam with 236 duration.

I think you found your problem in the BOV leaking. I would venture a guess as to it being the issue with boost falling off.

I hope so. I took it out for a spin but can't really tell on the street. I set the BOV real tight while pressure testing the cold side so it wouldn't push the BOV open but forgot to back the screw out so I was hearing some compressor surge.

On that note, what is the proper way to set a BOV up so it won't leak under boost? Do I just keep backing it off till I stop hearing the compressor surge? Stupid question, I know, but I've never really "set up" a BOV before.

You should do some bracket racing. That thing would be money. Launches deadly also.

Damn man. Getting faster and faster. This is making me want to scrap my 4l80 and just go with a glide. Congrats.

i dunno what to tell you, sometimes i wish i had an 80 and sometimes i'm completely happy with the glide. built right they are both great transmissions, the 80 is just heavier and takes a bit more power to turn, but it's got that luscious overdrive to make up for it.

Congrats man. You are getting faster and faster. That's pretty bad *** to turn times like that with A/C and pump gas. Keep up the good work.

now you are cooking with FIRE. congrats man.

I cant say I know of any other pump gas engines running 5.60s. Im sure they are out there, I just havent ever seen one. My other buddy who runs 5.60s spends $15 a gallon on race gas, and $40 a bottle on nitrous and it lasts two maybe 3 passes.

you are doing good work buddy.

so, what did you change to pick up the extra e.t

added a second meth nozzle and upped the timing 2 degrees (still only running 16* under boost). car picked up 1.5mph going from 14 to 15 and 1.5mph going from 15 to 16. i stopped there, plugs look really good and haven't seen an ounce of KR so i don't want to test my luck. i also went from the BR7EF plug to the B8EFS plug (so a 7 to an 8 heat range).

i also went from the MSD 2 step to the Lingenfelter 3 step so I can get the turbo lit up a little easier on the line.

This statement kind of confused me. If you drop from a 3.73 gear to a 3.08 or 3.27 wouldn't you need to loosen the convertor some? Not tighten it? I realize you lose the mechanical advantage and this would help with spool but since you are using a power glide and not a TH400 wouldn't tightening the convertor counter act it and kill that advantage to spool?

Again, still learning and trying to see the reasoning of why a tighter convertor with a Power glide. I would have thought it would need to be loosened a little.

Thanks.
