Is there any way to change the fuel tables to PSI vs RPM instead of KPA? I see that being a p.i.t.a.

Just setup an excel table to do the conversion from PSI to KPA and vice versa. Would that work?

Keep in mind resolution amounts of Bar, or 100 Kpa, can be different between two map sensors. Oem style map sensors on most cars only read 1 bar (vacuum), wheres most aftermarket pieces can read 2.5 bar (255~kpa), like in Megasquirt 1 built in to the pcm, or most aftermarket pieces intended for boost are 3 bar. So it will see 1 bar of vacuum, (non boost), and 2 bars of boost .. or roughly 200kpa, 29psi~

So, this chart starts AFTER the initial 100 kpa, so add 100 kpa to the values above for the boost level. Confused yet?

DIYAutoTune.com Not really. The main problem is that tuning in absolute PSI is going to look almost as odd as kPa, and the ECU doesn't think in relative pressure like a boost gauge.
thats why they don't offer a switch to PSI

-100kPa, 0, 100kPa, 200 kPa, 255kPa. That would be the range of the 2.5 bar sensor, correct?

Does the sensor read in absolute?

Doug

EDIT - DUH!!! Big double DUHHH!! I answered my own question - MAP - Manifold Absolute Pressure! Off day today.

when i am tuning a MS1 car that comes with a 2.5 bar onboard sensor, it reads 253kpa roughly 22.x lbs of boost

here is tuning in psi, the is nothing odd about it. It's very simple, I can tune most cars with in 30 mins with this software.

here is one from Denmah's map on tuner studio

I just find it much simpler , I don't want to have to look at a conversion chart while I'm trying to street tune a car.

Wink

I strongly suggest you guys smooth the VE table. It can be copied, pasted into HPT, smoothed then copied and pasted back into tuner studio. That's the easiest way I have found to do it after running the auto tune feature in tuner studio.

Also Denham this is a pretty great write up and should be a sticky. And I'm sorry to jack your thread and keep about going on about this.

I have to ask how does the ecu not think in relative pressure? it reads 0-5 volts from a map sensor, it puts a value to a voltage. 2volts = 200kpa or 2 volts=7psi . I don't see what the difference is here. All that ecu should care about is what the input voltage is. What am I missing some thing here ?

I just got it installed on my junky four door Fairmont. easiest install I ever done even easier than ms1 and msd 6010. We'll be firing up the junkyard 6.0 with 80mm hopefully next week.

How well does the AutoTune feature work? Does it get the fuel/ spark close and then you need to fine tune?

Autotune only changes fuel. You will need to manipulate the fuel yourself...

It works pretty dang good if you put in some seat time!
