Yes to make some room. I've welded and cut on that rail so many times changing my turbo kit it wasn't doing much good. But yeah it does effect rigidity but that's why I bent some roll cage pipe to brace It back up . If you'll notice in the pic above.

Fairmont getting close to being back on the road. Engine bay getting full. Rebuilt stock 6.0 ptc 9 1/2 inch converter and isky triple 12 and 4l80e. Also micro squirt with a tranny controller running with tuner studio.
