I have been debating this also. I don't drive in the rain anyway, but the ease of working on everything and being able to run whatever intake I want is very appealing..... Hmmm.

Wiper are required for state inspection. I am an inspector, but I wont get rid of them. I dont like the look of a cut cowl. It makes a big gap on a stock hood between the back of the hood and windshield.

I don't like the big gap either, if I decide to cut it ill make some type of filler panel. lm still on the fence about cutting it though....

Then, why bother? You say you want it to be easier to work on, but then you're going to put something, albeit possibly easier to work with back in there. Sounds like you're going to do a lot of work for zero to little gain. How often are you wrenching on things that you feel the need to remove the cowling?
