Default Forced inductions.. Oil Coolers???

Ok I have been thinking about adding an oil cooler to my nova. No, I have not monitored oil temps. My pressure always stays around 50 and my water temps are always around 190 even on hot days. I run a short filled to lower waterpump holes lq9 truck block .030 over.

I am switching to 15w40 rotella t this year..

Not sure if the cooler is needed or if anyone else runs one..it would be some more weight and some more hose to route. IF I do one it will be -12 hose.

I think I'm going to start monitoring mine also. Having seen oil temps on a street driven turbo car without a cooler, I decided that perhaps I didn't want to know mine. I know, its the equivalent of covering your ears and yelling "I can't hear you!"

It can't hurt, just make sure it has a thermostatic bypass on it.

How hot is "too hot" for oil temps?

Keep the coolant temps in check and the oil will mirror it. If it is just a street/strip car you will never have a problem. Tracking it would be a different story

Mine is always in the area of 190-210

Well I guess Ill toss a gauge in there first to see what I can see. I dont have issues and the oil gets changed A TON. I use K&N filters and good oil, but my concern would be the whole turbo thing with the block being short filled. Obviously with a short fill not coolant is in the bottom of the block to cool the engine and the coolant may stay around 190* in the head where the temp sensor is but who concerned about oil temps. Im sure they are high even without monitoring them.

My wife's stock CTS-V gets as high as 235 and apparently this is not out of the ordinary for a stock CTS-V as it has been reported by numerous others.
