Default alternator relocation bracket

Doing some research I have seen a few of you guys make your own alternator relocation bracket or use the stock one and modify it.

Can anyone show me or help me out on how you did it. I'm not trying to be cheap I just can't justify $170 for a relocation kit when there is no where near that money in parts and labor to put one together.

All helps appreciated. Thanks

I made my own relocation bracket using the stock bracket. I will post pics of my exact setup tomorrow. Here is a link to the thread I used for reference. But rather then using his tensioner style I used a turnbuckle tensioner.

Thanks for the help. That looks simple enough to do and saves a bunch of money. Do you know how long of a belt you need to after you do this? Or does the stock one work?

Thanks for all that info man it helps a lot. DO you happen to have a few better pictures then in that link you gave me? Mostly of the backside and how it was used for tensioning?

I have to mount my alternator up top because of the truck manifold. No room to leave it down at the bottom.

I had a bracket setup that I purchased from a member on here. Had to do all sorts of shimming to get the alignment right and everytime I have to take it off, I have to make sure that the washers (shims) stay in place. I just broke down and ordered the bracket from ModularTurbo so that I could throw away all that other crap that I was using. $180 in the grand scheme of turbo land is a small price to pay to not have to screw around with a rig job.

+1 on this. It's a quality piece by them and it fits perfect with no adjusting.

I'll look at it if its going to be that much of a pain. I'll try it out when I mock up the new motor and if it doesn't work I'll just order one.

I tried almost every bracket out there Smokin'hawk, Speed inc, home made, a few other members and a modified stock bracket and after chewed up belts, thrown belts, belt squelch and bent bolts I just bought the Modular Turbo bracket and now all is well.
