Default Those who made their own alternator relocation brackets step inside

Odd question but has anyone made their own brackets using a model from solidworks and cut out on a waterjet or similar? I may be able to have a friend make me one (or a couple extras) but I need dimensions or drawings of what others have used as far as the bracket design. I would start taking measurements off my car but it is in storage 80 miles away right now.

Any help or dimensions would be sweet!

I was going to tackle this exact problem this weekend.

Not sure if I'm going to have it waterjet or have a rapid manufacturing vendor handle it.

I made one using some old headbolts, cut to length pipe, and a manual tensioner from a porsche 944. Total cost was 20 bucks.

Rock solid too.,

That setup posted above looks great but the setup I have is for forward facing headers so the alternator needs to be mounted high. I have looked at a few setups and have some ideas in mind but will need to make some drawings first and see what options are out there. Biggest thing I don't want is flex in the bracket since I have heard of some throwing belts because of it.

The drawing in your thread is exactly what I was looking for. Going to see if I can replicate it for my car. Thanks!

looks great, im trying to figure out a way to run just the water pump and alt. i want my alternator low to keep the engine bay un-cluttered as possible. does the alternator care what direction it spins? assuming it was new.

You planning on turning the alternator around to where the pulley faces the rear of the car?

www.aeicnc.com He makes a aluminum bracket that mounts low and clears the truck manifolds. Here are some pics of it on our car.

It comes with the upper bracket, lower bracket, the turnbuckle with heim joints, stainless brace, aluminum pulley, and all necessary hardware. I think he can supply the alternator as well. Talk to Bob, tell him Sean sent ya!

stock bracket

modded bracket

installed.

sits nice and low which i like

bolts to the outer most threaded hole in the pass side head using a spacer for proper belt alignment and uses a small slide tensioner mounted between the alt and the hole on the water pump for the stock tensioner

couple notes, the belt runs right across where the head of one of the bolts goes so you have to grind the head down some. and i dont have a stock alternator on my car, the one i have has a different plastic back but im pretty sure you could mod the back of the stock fbody alternator. you also have to take a minor amount of material off the alternator where it bolts to the slide for alignment
