Default Procharger idler pulley shot?

Is this thing toast? It turns fine but has resistance, should they spin freely?

There should be some resistance since it has grease filled bearings, but there's a difference between resistance, and trashed.

It is perfectly smooth when rotating but will not spin freely. I am just worried because it's obviously had a lot of heat in it. New to Prochargers.

Is there a replacement option other than the $85 procharger one?

Depends on the bearings really. If they spin smoothly with no roughness, and the seals are intact with no leakage present then they are probably fine.

And I'd imagine the bearings are relatively easy to replace.

You can take the bearings out and go to your local Napa and find replacement bearings. Bob

If it's perfectly smooth, but won't spin freely, then the bearings are doing their job. I say leave it be. As long as there is no slop or free-play in the pulley, then put it back on. If you were able to spin it and it spun freely, then the bearings would be shot.

I'd replace it just because of the wear on it. That will help chew belts.

Is this kind of wear common? Was is caused by belt slip?
