Alright back to the regular scheduled programming.

Wicked69, make sure you get a vid when you get that 5 sec pass.

Andy, do you mind sharing your rear extension settings and compression settings when you went your fastest on radials? I know a lot of testing and trial and error goes into chassis tuning these radial cars, but any bit of information helps many people!

Wicked, if you need my cell phone number to get a hold of me while you're at the race I can PM it to you. I know sometimes how things get frustrating while you're at the track and no way to really contact anyone that may be able to help.

You'd have to talk to someone like Mark Carlyle if he'll even share any information. I just don't see how a IRS car can hook a radial as they don't separate they squat which picks the tire up instead of actually planting it downwards like it needs to.

Here is another good video of suspension separation. And an awesome camera view for it too! This is dschmittie's car on ls1tech. Watch the whole thing, or start watching at 0:55.

True but I've done several 1.36s in my N/A GTO with a fraction of the power some of you guys have.

That is a very good video of suspension separation, but he's got too much. In fact way too much. One of the big reasons I believe it wheelied so quickly is from the amount of separation it has in it in that video. I'd slow the extension down a lot, and/or take some bite out of it. I see he is on the older mickey thompsons which with their stiffer sidewall probably can handle that kind of separation on a good track like MIR. It is still a lot of wasted energy that could be used to propel the car forwards instead of downwards so much then forwards. I believe he mentioned getting limiters as well, which will help some.

Everytime I see an IRS car run that actually hooks up it blows my mind lol. I've even seen suspension videos of under a Holden and you can see the middle of the slick cup and then pick itself up off the ground.

after a little working around we got this down to a 1.21 on its first meet at the track.. 4100rpm leave at 9psi, low 15psi down the track..

it will go 1.18-1.16 with out too many problems, 3100lb weight, T400 trans, 12.5psi in the tyres..

makes a lot more power on 25psi and cant wait to get back to the track and wind it up..

Yeah that was before we started playing with shock setting that day. Also No limiters should be buying a set in the next week or 2 before heading do the LSX race at Atlanta drag way

I saw you had said you were going to be buying some. That's what I meant above, sorry for not wording it a little clearer, internet can really screw up a sentence and how it's meant to be read lol.

I think you've got a great set-up now, just need to slow the extension way down with shock extension and tighten it up, or raise the LCA's up a hole, but I wouldn't move the control arms without playing with extension first. How much air pressure are you running? What about the front extension and compression settings, it looks like it's coming up kind of fast? Limiters will help that though, just be careful it doesn't top the shock out too quickly from being too loose on extension when it touches the limiters as it can upset the car as well. Car is working good though. I'd rather be doing wheelies than spinning honestly, I've pedaled my way out of enough wheelies to know what to do when it comes up without hurting anything, spinning just pisses me off!
