Yep, we used this method on my buddies H2. Im sure it would be much less stressful if the engine was not in a truck.

Someone sticky this! I just had 2 break off for no reason(literally no reason. I didn't even touch the bolts. I heard something fall on the floor and there was a bolt head!). 30 secs later and both were out! Thanks so much for posting this!

QFT! pesky broken bolts will always come out that way

how is the head fucked? you have to be careful not to overheat it when you are welding but I did this to 6 studs on one head once back in high school, shop teacher taught that trick to me, worked great.

if its not broken to far into the hole, you can center a nut over the hole
and plug weld it-the nut has to be smaller (center) than the bolt
I was given a free 6.0 because rather than try and rem. 3 broken studs they replaced he engine-I only wanted the block anyways, lol

My luck, I always break the bolts under the cowl that are impossible to reach.

What are you guys using as replacements that don't break off in the head like the stock bolts.

No I'm serious. Guess I may of gotten it too hot, the flange area around the hole broke away. It's like a crater around the hole now. Oh well, looks like ill have one 862 head, and one 706. Sloppy.
