Hahaha. Funny. Again, multiple means to the same end.
If I were doing a straight racecar, weight would be a consideration and i'd probably go front mount.

For me, this is my daily driver. I like stoplight racing and beating up on factory cars like C6's, GT-Rs, and exotics on the way to work, with the the AC blowing on my face and/or top down. I like that I haven't had to stand up my radiator or lose AC, or buy a turbo k-member.

Oh I agree. If I were looking at a track only car, there'd be no back seats, stereo, carpet, AC, (wouldn't be a convertible, ha), etc. And, I'd do the turbo up front, dump it out the fender, and use aluminum for the charge pipe. In that type of build, every pound helps.

Like Mightymouse was eluding to, if top performance is the goal, the turbo would be up front. For me... I like the creature comforts and a rear mount setup meets all my needs.

That having been said, I can't tell you how many times I've bottomed out on speed bumps, even trying to be careful. Having a rear mount, any one of them would have crushed my charge pipe under the car had it been made of Aluminum. From K-member forward, Aluminum is the way to go.

Mild steel charge pipes used frequently here. No problems whatsoever, IAT's remain right at ambient temp when not in boost (intercooled). I personally like using mild steel to avoid the use of a bunch of silicone couplers, less chance of a charge pipe blowing off. Just my .02.

I've built MANY turbo kits for 99+ GM truck and almost everyone of them, I used aluminized coated steel exhaust tubing for the cold pipes. Works great! A quick hit of the welds with silver paint and they don't rust. Also, being steel you can tighten the T-bolt clamps on the couplers much tighter without crushing the tube, so they never blow off either!

I agree. This will be my only car for a while so I lime the ac and not too much clutter under the hood. As for weight I understand how important it is to keep it low. I dont have power windows or seats so that helps make up the difference.
