Pics Of My Broken Motor
NOW . . . my question is, notice all the white clean spot on the broken piston . . . my suspicion is heavy detonation, but how? Every other piston is completely healthy, but is not clean like that spot. My buddy thinks maybe an injector failed, but I'm wondering if it was the alky injection not making it to this cylinder as well as the others . . . your thoughts?
No scoring of the cylinder . . . the head looks OK, you can see where the chip was smacking against the valves, but it looks OK. Heads are gonna go in as core anyway . . .
Well typical detonation damage to a cast hyper piston. Not heavy detonation IMO or it would be in a hundred pieces.
Are the pistons removed from the block now? Because more often than not it's the 2nd ring land that gets broken and you won't see that until you remove the pistons.
Hard to say what went wrong. Could be a lot of things, maybe some oil got by the rings and it detonated for example.
But if you were using pump gas you have no room with hyper pistons when something does go wrong.
That's the problem with stock hyper pistons. Perfect tune and they last. But we live in a non perfect world.
That really sucks about your engine though. But at least now you can throw some forged pistons in it and a few extra hundred horsies

Pistons are not yet out . . . I'm expecting to see more damage when that happens.

Sorry to see and hear about the blown motor. Unless the motor is built for it, it is just a matter of time. You will have more fun with the new set-up, I'm sure.
