Changing Exhaust AR on Incon?

Default Changing Exhaust AR on Incon?

Guys,

Looks like I am going to go ahead and run the gtbb37s that I just had rebuilt. I was talking to the guys at Innovative Turbo and we decided that unless I was going to go with a completely custom system I was better off just using what I had. We did discuss a few options though.

I currently have the .64 AR exhaust housings that came with the kit. I am thinking about going to a .86 exhaust housing to help the turbos flow a bit more up top. Do you guys think that it is worth the effort to make this move? Think I will gain anything?

These are going to be on my 408 8.5:1 motor.

Hopefully Harlan will jump in here. He maxed his and should have enuff data to know what maxed first. he didn't have the 37s tho.

Based on my research it is the exhaust side that limits the flow on the Incon setup. I had mention this to harlan before he really started trying to max out the turbos. I never did crunch the numbers all the way through.

What type of maf/pcm are you using? As the Incon turbos are already good for more that the stock MAF can handle!

I just got my Incon turbos built and would pay more in a heart beat if I could use the power made! I would buy the bigger AR a just wait to install when I go to a DFI system!

Computer will be Gen7 after I see how far I can go on the stock PCM. I am pretty confident that I will be able to get the car to the 800rwhp mark before I need to go to an aftermarket management system though.

Probably propane initially (since I already have that kit on the car). Eventually I will probably go to a progressive alky system spraying methanol.

IC IC but back to the AR. talk Harlan anybody can do the math? When I ordered my CHRAs and compressor housings Choper at Limited Enginering said I could go up one size in chras but the turbin and compressor would need to be milled out a little. And the gain would only be say a max of 50hp total as the turbo is still only so big and and can only flow so much!

About 40 hp gain going to a .86 housing and a change of about 400 rpm on spool up.

id imagine since your using a 408 cubed motor that the larger Ar exhaust would be better for it, with that many cubes i dont think spool will be an issue.
